Fans can’t stop talking about Taylor Swift‘s appearance on Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast on Aug. 13.
Days earlier, the superstar sat alongside her beau and shared in short clip with Travis’ brother that she has a new album, The Life of a Showgirl, coming out.
During the latest podcast, Swift spoke with the Kelce siblings about that and so much more, including what Jason was freaking out over just before he met a few members of the royal family.
What was Jason’s dilemma when meeting the royals?
While discussing her Eras Tour stop in London last summer, Swift asked: “Wasn’t this the week I got to watch Jason meet the royal family?”
She and Travis relayed a story about how Jason was nearly panicking just before meeting Prince William, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte.
“He was like, ‘What do I do with my beer?’” Travis recalled as he laughed, remembering the moment
Swift jumped in and made a gesture mimicking Jason with a beer in his hand, saying: “I watched him have this moment with his beer where he was like, ‘But I want to take it, but I know that I probably should not take it.’ I watched this happen, and it kind of was the most amazing [thing].”
“I like that you picked up on it because that was exactly what was going through my head,” Jason told her.
The “Anti-Hero” artist then quipped, “Like if I don’t have my beer, what do I do with my hand now?”
“Is it disrespectful to have a beer when you meet royalty?” Jason said.
“Yeah,” Swift responded. “’Or is it authentic by having the beer? I would normally have the beer, wouldn’t they want me to be myself?’ I’m watching you say that in your head. It was fantastic.”
What Travis said about meeting Prince William, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte
Travis previously talked about meeting William and his children on a separate episode of his podcast.
He said then: “Dude, [Prince William] was the coolest motherf*****. He was awesome. He was so cool. I didn’t realize this as obviously we were backstage meeting him because he was there with little George and Charlotte, and they were an absolute delight to meet.”
Swift has known the royals for years and she goes way back with the future king. In 2013, they attended the Centrepoint Gala Dinner, a charity event for homelessness. The prince and pop star joined Jon Bon Jovi onstage for a rendition of the 1986 hit “Livin’ on a Prayer.” William later admitted that he was a nervous wreck and couldn’t even remember the words when he got up there with the rocker and Swift.
“To this day, I still do not know what came over me,” the Prince of Wales recalled in an episode of Apple Fitness+’s Time to Walk podcast. “Honestly, even now I’m cringing at what happened next, and I don’t understand why I gave in. But, frankly, if Taylor Swift looks you in the eye, touches your arm, and says, ‘Come with me …’ I got up like a puppy and went, ‘Yeah, OK, that seems like a great idea. I’ll follow you.
“I walked up on stage in a trance, and then sort of halfway through Jon Bon Jovi’s ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’ song, I wake up and I’m thinking to myself, ‘Am I standing on the stage singing … when I don’t even know the words?’”
