On August 13, Taylor Swift sat down with the Kelce brothers for an episode of their podcast, New Heights. The biggest reveal was obviously Swift’s upcoming album announcement, but the pop icon and the tight end did share a lot about their relationship and each other, too. Swift even shared some of Travis Kelce’s dreams with the audience, including his dream pet. He would like to keep an Otter as a pet, says Taylor Swift. While otters are utterly adorable, it’s a strange “dream pet.” His list of attributes the otter must have is even more bizarre.

Travis Kelce has a dream pet

Everyone has probably thought about the odd pet they’d have if they could. Some people dream about owning a farm for that very reason. Travis Kelce’s dream pet is a bit more uncommon than most people’s, though. During the August 13 episode of New Heights, Travis Kelce admitted that his dream pet is an otter, but it can’t just be any typical “domesticated” otter. Travis Kelce is after a “wild otter.”

Taylor Swift explained that her boyfriend of two years is in the market for a “really specific type of otter.” She said, Kelce wants a rescue otter. Swift elaborated, explaining that he wants to save an otter’s life so he’ll be forever thankful. She even laid out the “dream” scenario for the otter rescue. She said, “Like, the otter’s paw is stuck in a shell, he comes to the rescue, and later, the otter looks at him with gratitude like, ‘Thank you forever.” While Swift poked a bit of fun at her NFL love over the dream, she eventually conceded that she wants that for them, too.

Does the couple have any pets?

While a rescued wild otter might be Travis Kelce’s ultimate pet dream, he and his lady do own some more conventional pets while they wait for an otter oppurtunity to arise. Swift is a dedicated cat mom, having adopted three felines with names inspired by the entertainment industry. According to Elle, Swift’s cats, Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson, and Benjamin Button, were adopted separately. Meredith Grey went home with Swift in 2011; she is a Scottish Fold. In 2014, she brought home another Scottish Fold kitten. The second cat, Olivia Benson, is well-known to Swift fans. She’s appeared in several music videos. Benjamin Button, a ragdoll, moved into the Swift household in 2019.

Travis Kelce was a dog owner. At one time, he shared his life with a Pomsky and a Golden Doodle. His ex-girlfriend, Kayla Nicole, reportedly took custody of the dogs in the split. The duo dated on and off for five years and adopted the dogs, Rambo and Chauncy, together. Nicole has made several pointed digs at Kelce since he linked up with Swift. She alluded to her and Kelce being in an “unhealthy” space during a May 2025 episode of her podcast, The Pre-Game. Kelce did not respond.
