Taylor Swift is opening up about the moments before her proposal — and how nervous Travis Kelce got in the lead-up. Kelce popped the question after Swift appeared on his New Heights podcast. She said she had never seen Kelce get nervous before, and his clear agitation surprised her.

To announce her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, Swift made a guest appearance on Kelce’s podcast, New Heights. In an appearance on The Tonight Show, Swift said he seemed very anxious.
“I was like, ‘He is so serious about this, and I really appreciate that,’” she recalled thinking, per People. “Afterward, I kind of realized, he’s walking around sort of nervous about the podcast, he’s like, ‘My heart is racing, I know how much this means to you, I really want this to be what you hoped it would be,’ because we’d been talking about doing the podcast and announcing the album.”
Kelce put up blackout curtains while they were recording, so Swift wasn’t aware that people had been setting up their engagement in the backyard.

Swift said Kelce still seemed on edge after they finished recording the episode. She’d never seen him like that before.
“He’s like, ‘My heart is racing,’ and I’ve never seen this dude nervous, ever,” Swift said. “He’s professionally not a nervous person.”
She still didn’t know why he was really nervous. Eventually, he asked her if she wanted to walk around the garden with a glass of wine before dinner. At that point, she realized he was planning to propose.
“I’m like, ‘I’m always gonna want to do that,’” she said. “Then I realized exactly why all of the windows were curtained and why he was nervous, and it was the best possible case scenario.”
Kelce had no need to feel nervous. Swift loves her ring and said she is thrilled to be marrying the football star.
“I look at it constantly, like it doesn’t feel in any way normal for me,” she said. “I’m just like, ‘Man, whoa.’ But it’s more than that. He’s just my favorite person I’ve ever met — no offense to everyone else, but the fact that this is the person that I get to hang out with every day forever, that’s the whole thing of it.”
The couple is looking forward to planning their wedding
Swift recently released her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl. She said she doesn’t plan to tour for it, so she’ll now have time to plan her wedding.
“She’s been super focused on work commitments. She’s not kidding when she says she’s exhausted,” a source told People, adding, “She’s ready for a break so she can focus on the wedding.”
Both Swift and Kelce have enjoyed being engaged.
“It’s been a lot of excitement all at once,” a source said. “They’re both just really happy. It’s been a whirlwind, but it’s the good kind. They know how lucky they are to be in this moment together.”
