Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce recently made an appearance at Jason Aldean’s Nashville bar, much to the disappointment of her fans. Aldean is vocally conservative, sparking backlash with the song “Try That in a Small Town” and his endorsement of Donald Trump in 2024. Many of Swift’s fans were disappointed to see her at his bar.
Taylor Swift’s fans aren’t impressed with her appearance at a Nashville bar
Swift and Kelce attended a Tight End University event in Nashville on June 24. Afterward, they stepped out at Aldean’s bar. Many of her fans expressed major disappointment in her decision to go to the venue. Some believed this hinted at her political views.
“Once again y’all, if she dates MAGA & hangs around MAGA, what does that make her?” asked one Reddit user.
Swift endorsed Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election, but many fans thought her behavior went against her self-described political beliefs.
“She got her billion, so I guess she thinks she can do whatever the f*** she wants,” wrote one person. “She endorsed Harris, but then does s*** like this. Living in a state of constant disappointment is not fun.”
“I mean at this point her actions have spoken louder than her words ever did, her support for the lgbt community seems to have been a flash in the pan and in this day and age the ‘both sides’ thing extremely does not fly,” wrote another person.
A number of people also expressed confusion that Swift would attend Aldean’s bar because he is a Trump supporter. Trump is an outspoken critic of Swift.
“Does she not care that Trump has insulted her before?” one person wrote. “It’s one thing to be surprised because she endorsed Kamala previously, and has spoken out about her liberal beliefs, but her supporting someone who has said that ‘she is no longer hot’ and that he ‘HATES her’ is confusing to me.”

While many fans have criticized Swift’s actions, a number of others have defended her.
“Taylor and Travis didnt just choose to randomly go to Jason’s bar it’s where the afterparty happened to be held for the TEU event,” wrote one person. “Yes, Travis is a cofounder but he doesn’t have much say in where the after party is held them being their [sic] is not necessarily a political statement. Taylor and Travis are both openly progressive but have never cut off people with different politics [than] them. Yes, Taylor’s dad is conservative however her mom and brother are not.”
Others said that Swift’s appearance at the bar isn’t any kind of political statement.
“This is as dumb as saying someone is a republican bc they flew out of Reagan Dulles in DC,” another person wrote. “It’s hardly that deep. Move on.”
Many of Swift’s critics expressed little surprise that some fans defended her.
“Her fans always try to separate this from her by saying it’s obviously not what she believes, watch Miss Americana, she endorsed a democratic, blah blah blah,” they wrote. “You are the company you keep. With her financial resources and at the point of her career she is, she could pick anyone and she’s willingly picking them.”
She fell in love with the city at a young age
When Swift was a teenager, she began pushing her parents to move to Nashville. She heard Faith Hill got her start as a country singer in the city, and thought she could follow the same path.
“I first visited Nashville after I watched this TV program about Faith Hill,” she told CMT. “It said that she went to Nashville and that’s how she made it in country music. So ever since I saw that TV program when I was about 10, I was obsessively, obnoxiously bugging my parents every day — ‘We’ve got to go to Nashville. Can we go to Nashville? Can we go on a trip to Nashville like now? Or maybe spring break, can we go to Nashville?’”
Her family eventually moved to the city so she could pursue music.
