Temilade Openiyi, better known by her stage name Tems, who has earned a Grammy for her music, recently revealed what she considers to be significant warning signs in a potential romantic relationship. According to her, a lack of warmth and inquisitiveness are major deal-breakers.
During an interview with Complex, a renowned American media outlet, the artist behind the hit “Love Me Jeje” emphasized that the fundamental purpose of a partnership is undermined if one party lacks friendliness or genuine interest in the other.
Tems shared what she looks for in a relationship:
“In my view, a partner who doesn’t make an effort to be your friend is a major red flag. Similarly, someone who isn’t curious about getting to know you also raises alarms. It begs the question, what’s the point of being together if there’s no desire to understand each other?”
She offered straightforward guidance to her audience:
“If he or she doesn’t want to know more about you, end the relationship.”
Tems admitted that while she is a “lover girl,” she is trying to be careful due to past experiences and is currently prioritizing self-love.
