The Block’s Tom and Sarah-Jane forced to sell car after failing to reach auction target

The Block’s Tom and Sarah-Jane have made the difficult decision to sell their Ford vehicle to make ends meet after making a dismal profit on their house at auction.

During The Block finale on Sunday their property had a reserve price of $4.08 million and sold for $4.1 million, meaning they walked away with just $20,000 for their efforts.

The couple took to Instagram to tell their fans the disappointing result meant they would have to sell their vehicle.

‘Unfortunately for Tom we will sell the Ford,’ they told their 35,000 followers.

Fortunately, they managed to find the silver lining and added: ‘We had the experience of a lifetime and it’s something we can tell our grandkids about.’ 

Sarah-Jane admitted in an interview with Nine they had spent a lot of money financing their stint on The Block so they were now in the red.

‘We spent more than $20,000 of our savings to be here,’ Sarah-Jane said.

However, Tom said they enjoyed the experience overall and were glad they participated.

‘$20,000 is better than nothing. I’m grateful we made the most of our time on The Block. I’m walking away proud of what we’ve done,’ he said.

Tom and Sarah-Jane were fan favourites throughout the series due to their upbeat personalities and hard-work ethic.

The Sydney-based best mates made the largest sum over reserve of all five Block houses, selling their property for $5,666,666 and taking home a record breaking $1.6million in profit.
