Chrissy Teigen has revealed she has secretly been a smoker ‘on-and-off’ for many years. 

The 39-year-old shared the surprise admission at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party on Sunday in an interview with Access Hollywood. 

The mother-of-four declared that she has finally quit ‘for the last time’ after struggling to kick the habit. 

‘I’m just furiously chewing Nicotine gum tonight,’ she said. ‘Don’t smoke! Smoking’s bad, stop now if you can. I’ve been an on-and-off smoker for too long. 

‘I have stopped for the last time and I’m very proud of myself but I’m also extremely on edge!’ she said. 

While Teigen hasn’t really been seen smoking before, she was photographed in 2015 smoking on her hotel balcony in Cannes.

But she’s been transparent with fans about another vice – alcohol, which she finally gave up for good in 2021. 

In 2022 she celebrated one year of sobriety. 

Marking the milestone on Instagram, she posted: ‘Not a drop of alcohol in 365 days! I miss feeling loopy and carefree sometimes, but to be honest toward the end, it didn’t give that fun feeling anymore anyhow.

‘I drank to end crazy anxiety that later mostly went away when I – get this – quit drinking! sigh. anyhow I feel really good. sometimes I get really frustrated looking back on days I should remember way better than I do because of alcohol. 

‘Like when I drank cafe patron and fell asleep while an Outback Steakhouse chef taught me (my friends) how to make a bloomin onion at my house. I wish I was awake for that. Wish I remembered really any awards show lol. 

‘There are pictures from huge moments in life where my eyes just look…gone. Some are from real work shoots, some just beach days with the family. While I honestly STILL don’t know if I’ll never have a drink again, I do know I never want to be that way again. 

‘And for now, none is best. I’ll let the bad dreams come up and try to sort them out in therapy, without booze. Prayers for a blooming onion redo, @outback?’

She celebrated 100 years of sobriety in October 2021, after facing backlash over a cyberbullying scandal.

In an interview with Today Show’s Hoda Kotb, Chrissy said that her decision to give up alcohol has helped her to ‘do the work’ she needed to do in order to become a ‘better person’.

‘I’m actually a hundred days sober today and I’m so excited,’ the cookbook author revealed in an interview. ‘I feel so good, I feel very clear-headed.’

‘Aside from being pregnant, I hadn’t gone more than a day or two [without a drink], ever, since I started drinking at 20 or so. I just never really had that period of time of clear thought,’ she admitted.

‘It became embarrassing,’ she said, adding that being with husband John Legend, who is ‘so respected, and so beloved,’ she realized, ‘I can’t be the messy one.’

‘Waking up in the morning and being like, “Oh, what did I say?” she said. ‘That feeling is not worth it. Not to mention the headaches and everything.’

Getting sober has helped her get clarity, and Teigen talked about how she has changed since her Twitter scandal broke.

‘I feel like I’ve done the work and I just hope these people can forgive and be able to welcome the fact that hopefully they’ve seen me be better,’ she said.
