Radio host Robin Bailey broke down on her KIIS FM radio show this week over fears she’ll fail an upcoming cooking challenge.

The 54-year-old, who is a self-confessed bad cook, burst into tears on Friday ahead of her upcoming ‘Robin Can’t Cook’ kitchen segment, which will see her prepare a three-course meal for a full house of people at a local hotel.

KIIS 97.3FM Brisbane’s Robin, Terry & Kip had MasterChef Australia star Matt Preston on the line for some moral support when Robin became an emotional wreck over the impending challenge.

‘I can’t do it, I don’t want to do it, it’s bulls**t!’ she sobbed uncontrollably.

‘You’ve seen me meltdown in my own kitchen. I can’t do it!’ she shrieked through tears.

When Preston said everybody was behind her, the radio star cried: ‘No, I don’t (have support), everyone wants me to fail, mate.’

Preston reassured Robin, saying: ‘Robin, you need to believe that you can do it. And really, you have got support.’

‘That isn’t true at all. But honestly, Robin, genuinely believe you can do it. You just got to have some faith in yourself.’

Robin then exited the studio for 20 minutes to regain her composure, before returning to her co-hosts.

Co-host Kip Wightman admitted he was disappointed with one of her comments during the outburst.

‘The trigger was when you said to Matt that everyone wants you to fail. And that bothered me,’ he said.

‘There’s two parts to our friendship, one is that I want to have fun on the radio with you, when things fail, so if we have this lunch and you burn the pizza, it’s going to be fun.

Robin went on to take responsibility for her outburst and believed she may have been linking her private trauma to the upcoming challenge. She lost her second husband, Sean Pickwell (left), to liver cancer in September 2019

‘It’s funny, but I don’t want you to fall. I actually believe in you.’

Robin, who has suffered immense tragedy in her personal life, went on to take responsibility for her outburst and believed she may have been linking her private trauma to the upcoming challenge.

‘For God’s sake. I’ve been through two deaths and two husbands and the thing that’s bringing me to my knees is cooking,’ she said.

‘I think maybe I’ve just projected all of my other sh*t right into this, into just this moment of just going “I can’t do it.”‘

Robin lost her second husband, Sean Pickwell, to liver cancer in September 2019.

His death came five years after her first husband, Tony Smart, died by suicide in September 2014.

Robin only returned to the airwaves in January 2020, joining the Australian Radio Network’s (ARN) 97.3 FM’s breakfast show.
