Netflix has revealed that The Night Agent will conclude with its fourth and final season.
Production for this upcoming season, featuring Gabriel Basso in the lead role, is already underway in Los Angeles, according to the streaming giant.
Shawn Ryan, the series creator, executive producer, and showrunner, has promised audiences a satisfying and exciting finale.
“From the moment The Night Agent found its audience, I have been determined to craft a compelling and fitting conclusion for the series and for Peter Sutherland’s odyssey,” Ryan expressed in a statement. “I am incredibly thankful to Netflix and Sony Pictures Television for their collaboration on The Night Agent, allowing us to provide a conclusive final chapter for our global fans. We are fully committed to crafting a memorable and impactful final season.”
The popular show follows Basso’s character, Peter Sutherland, a low-ranking FBI agent who becomes entangled in a vast conspiracy that reaches the highest levels of the U.S. government.
The series recently returned with its third season, which saw Peter hunt down a young Treasury Agent who fled to Istanbul with sensitive government intel. The mission helps him uncover a dark money network that puts him in the path of a relentless journalist.
Details regarding The Night Agent Season 4 are still being kept under wraps. But it will likely be another globe-trotting adventure as Peter grapples with the stakes of his line of work.
“He’s definitely flawed. He doesn’t always make the right decision,” Ryan told Netflix’s Tudum of Basso’s character. “Peter desperately wants to do the right thing, wants the best for the most people, but the line of work he’s in demands that you don’t always get to choose between right and wrong — sometimes you have to choose between wrong and bigger wrong.”
The Night Agent Season 3 premiered in February, when it quickly landed in the the Netflix Top 10. The streamer reports the new season had 5.2 million views, putting the show at No. 3 of the Top 10 U.S. Series list.
The show has long ranked in the streamer’s Top 10 lists, where it spent 17 weeks after its premiere in 2023.
The Night Agent Season 1 through 3 are streaming now on Netflix.
