Scheana Shay recently dropped the bombshell revelation that Brock Davies cheated on her while she was still on Vanderpump Rules. When she found out about his infidelity, she opted to keep it a secret from almost everyone in her life, including the reality show’s producers. Shay has opened up about Davies’ affair in her new memoir. Vanderpump Rules producer Alex Baskin said Shay should have dealt with the fallout on the show.

Scheana Shay found out Brock Davies cheated while she was still on ‘Vanderpump Rules’

In her recent memoir My Good Side, Shay revealed that Davies cheated on her while she was pregnant with their daughter. He admitted it to her in between the filming for seasons nine and ten of Vanderpump Rules. At the time, rumors were swirling that he could be having an affair with cast members Rachel Leviss or Lala Kent.

“Brock said that with all of the fake news being published, he was afraid that something that actually was true might surface, and it was best that I heard it directly from him,” Shay wrote. “My whole body froze, and I remained in a state of paralyzed shock as he confessed that he’d cheated on me two years prior, when we were living in San Diego during the pandemic, while I was pregnant with Summer.”

He also gave her a letter detailing the extent of his infidelity. Shay said it was full of spelling errors.

“[H]e wrote the letter, which included more specifics than I ever wanted, such as how many times they’d slept together, where they’d done it, and where they hadn’t (our house),” she wrote. “He also pointed out that it was purely physical, never emotional, and he always used protection. Gee, thanks!”

The show’s producer said this should have played out on air

Shay said she hardly told anyone about Davies’ affair. As a result, production did not find out, and she did not deal with it on the show. Baskin isn’t happy about this.

“We didn’t know about it,” Baskin told The Hollywood Reporter. “She kept it, obviously, under very tight wraps, so very few people in her life knew. And sure, I think it’s a story that we would have and should have covered.”

He believed that it didn’t feel honest to depict Shay’s life on the show without showing all of it.

“These are series’ about people’s lives, and they’re very much predicated on seeing it all, knowing what’s going on with them,” he explained. “Something that was obviously of great importance to Scheana and probably defined that period of her life would have been something we would have wanted in the show.”

Fans of Vanderpump Rules also criticized her for this, noting that she could have saved her own job by showing the fallout from her affair. Vanderpump Rules is rebooting with a new cast.

While Shay ultimately decided to reveal the affair in her memoir, she initially did not want to.

“I went back and forth. It started as absolutely not,” she told Us Weekly. “It was an eight-month conversation [with Brock]. After several therapy sessions and really talking about it, we decided that this book would be inauthentic if we didn’t put it all in.”

She has decided to forgive Davies, which she doesn’t think she could have done if she spoke about his affair on the show. She also said she wanted to protect their daughter from it.

“I also wasn’t ready to tell that story. I don’t think our marriage would’ve survived if I did,” she said, adding, “I wasn’t even protecting Brock in those moments, I was protecting Summer.”
