Now, Lopez has closed on a new place — and it’s an hour away from Affleck and Jennifer Garner. Here’s what a source said regarding why she chose to move such a distance.

Jennifer Lopez hoped for a lasting marriage to Ben Affleck. Unfortunately, the couple couldn’t make their relationship work. While they bought a $60 million mansion in Beverly Hills together, Affleck bought a $20 million home in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles post-split. Now, it’s Lopez’s turn to buy a place of her own. An insider told DailyMail.com that Lopez bought a mansion in Hidden Hills, California, for $21 million. The mansion is an hour away from Affleck’s place.
“Jennifer wanted to get out of the hustle and bustle of the city and have a more relaxed home life in Hidden Hills,” a source told the publication.
Not only does Affleck live in Brentwood, but so does his first ex-wife, Jennifer Garner. Garner and Affleck maintain a close friendship and are frequently spotted together.
The source noted that Lopez’s decision to buy a place far from Affleck and Garner has nothing to do with them. “It has nothing to do with getting away from Ben and his family and Jennifer and their kids,” the insider alleged. “She is OK with them. It is about being in a more relaxed environment.”
Lopez’s new place is in a gated community with security personnel and cameras. Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Kris Jenner, and Kylie Jenner reportedly live in the same neighborhood.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck didn’t have a prenup when they divorced. However, it seems the couple plans to split the profits of their house sale evenly. Lopez and Affleck have been trying to sell their Beverly Hills mansion since 2024. Unfortunately, the house has garnered little interest. As of March 2025, it remains for sale.
A source told In Touch Weekly that Lopez “put down the bulk of cash for their gigantic mansion, plus paid for many of the renovations. She wants to get her investment back.”
Cara Ameer, a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker, told Realtor.com that Lopez and Affleck should expect to lose money on their home. They listed the mansion for $68 million, but that won’t even cover the realtor fees, taxes, and millions on renovations they already spent.
“I think Jen and Ben will be selling at a loss, between what they paid plus their renovations and all of their carrying costs,” Ameer said.
