The View scolded Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on this morning’s episode for how he spoke to West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey during a March visit to his state, where the Health and Human Services Secretary declared the governor should be put on a diet and publicly weighed.

On today’s show, the ladies watched footage of Kennedy’s remarks, which were part of a larger event aimed on promoting the state’s health initiatives.

“I said to Governor Morrisey the first time I saw him, I said, ‘You look like you ate Governor Morrisey,’” Kennedy said, in part, also remarking at one point, “I’m going to put him on a really rigorous regimen, and we’re going to put him on a carnivore diet.”

Kennedy also suggested Morrisey should do a “public weigh-in once a month.”

The View was disgusted by Kennedy’s words, and Joy Behar took the opportunity to remind the audience Kennedy is “a former heroin addict who has a brain worm.”

“He should be careful, because people will start making fun of him pretty soon, if they haven’t already,” Behar added, after which Alyssa Farah Griffin gently reminded her that Kennedy has since “overcome his addiction.”

Still, Griffin said Kennedy’s speech was “so mean and uncomfortable,” and said she didn’t even think the audience in West Virginia liked it, either, noting, “This is a governor they recently elected who is pretty popular.”

Sunny Hostin, meanwhile, wondered why Kennedy was even poking fun at the governor’s weight when he was speaking in West Virginia, which “consistently ranks No. 49 in terms of healthcare quality in our country.”

“It has the worst health outcomes of any state,” Hostin said, asking, “If you’re the health secretary, why don’t you talk about that?”

As for Sara Haines, she called Kennedy “a bully” and said his remarks to the governor on a stage in front of a crowd is “what nightmares are made of.”

Haines confessed, “I would have died. It is really just awful behavior.”

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
