Megan Fox was allegedly distraught after she and Machine Gun Kelly announced their split not too long ago. The timing of their break-up perhaps couldn’t have been worse. However, sources indicate that the couple tried to salvage their relationship for their family.

There were already a few telling signs that Fox and Kelly weren’t going to stay together before they seemed to go their separate ways for good. Since becoming a couple in 2020, the pair got into several intense fights throughout their four-year relationship. In early 2024, Us Weekly reported that the two weren’t even living together after a particularly heated argument. However, back then the popular opinion was that they would remain together despite living in separate spaces.

“Friends around them don’t see them completely ending the relationship as they truly change their minds every day,” the source said.

But another insider thought otherwise and felt that Fox and Kelly butted heads too much for their relationship to be healthy.

“Megan and MGK have a very toxic relationship; their love literally makes them sick,” they said.

It seems that the latter was right. Fox and Kelly would eventually call it quits for good. But another Us Weekly source provided a bit more context to their final break-up. They reported that Fox’s pregnancy gave them even more incentive to work through their issues. The two have a few drastic differences, but their personalities are also very similar. Ironically, however, their similar personalities played a part in their downfall.

“They were trying to make it work again after the pregnancy. But they are both too hot-headed and fell back into their constant fighting,” the insider said. “They can’t get on the same page and it’s not easy for them being together.”

But Fox and Kelly still seem to maintain communication despite their brutal break-up.

“They don’t talk at great lengths but have exchanged a few texts,” they added.

Although a source alleged that Fox felt her trust issues were her fault, her lack of faith in Kelly might’ve been what ultimately ended their relationship. A Page Six insider revealed that Kelly gave his ex-fiancé reason to be suspicious.

“When they went away for the Thanksgiving holiday, she became suspicious and decided to go through his phone,” the source said.

If the story is to be believed, Fox discovered that Kelly was texting other women, which was the last straw. But as heartbroken as both might be, the source asserted that Fox was still in relatively high spirits. This must’ve been a relief since many feared Kelly would lead Fox down a very painful but familiar place.

“Megan is a strong, independent woman and doesn’t need a man in her life,” the source reassured.

There’s even a possibility that the break-up might be a blessing in disguise for Fox, who plans on renewing her career after the pregnancy.

“She has a renewed sense of confidence since being apart from MGK. And after the baby she will be focusing on a career comeback,” an insider told Us Weekly not too long ago. “The baby is the greatest gift to come from the relationship.”

It was also noted that Fox doesn’t regret having a child with Kelly despite their relationship not working out.

“She believes that while they may not have been meant to be together, she was meant to bring his child into the world,” they said. “Her children are her greatest blessing and far more important than any fleeting or destructive Hollywood relationship.”

Still, despite their standing, Kelly has attempted to reconcile with Fox. But the source claimed that Fox had moved on from the “Wild Boy” rapper for good this time. Even though she once credited herself for saving Kelly, it looks like this time Fox opted to save herself.
