Content creator Keto Pataraia (@keto.pataraia) looks to Harajuku streetwear, her Brooklyn home and thrifted fashion when curating her signature sense of style. Her closet is filled with bright pieces that show the world exactly who she is.
“Brooklyn definitely influences my style a lot,” Keto says. “I grew up around a lot of characters who weren’t afraid to be themselves, and I feel like that gave me the confidence to be who I am.”
Three words sum up Keto’s style: rave, colorful and funky. She says that growing up during the Youtube era influenced her love for Harajuku streetwear videos. “Even though it’s not my style now, I’m still obsessed with it,” she says.
Some of Keto’s favorite closet pieces include a shirt dress from Depop with digital TV-inspired prints, a vintage 2003 D&G shirt and a Sailor Moon vest purchased from a Japanese resale site. Next, Keto pulls out a vintage Lip Service set from the ’90s in green and black with tubing embellishments on the sides and a Mugler dress she bought from The RealReal.
Other highlights include thrifted tights embellished with Hello Kitty ribbons found on Etsy, a pair of Z-CoiL orthopedic sneakers that Keto loves for their unique heels, and a ton of thrifted accessories and jewelry. And Keto’s Swear London boots are a prized possession.

1. Get messy
“I really do think more of us should be making a mess when we’re getting dressed,” Keto says. “The more things you pull out, the more you can match, the more you can elevate your outfit.”
2. Try lots of options
Trying on as many pieces as possible helps Keto see what she has in her closet and figure out what she can wear each day.
3. Accessorize to complete the look
Accessorizing is one of the most important steps for Keto. “I feel like without my accessories – without my rings, without my necklace – I just feel incomplete, I feel naked,” she says.

4. Don’t forget the bag
“To be honest, I kind of forgot about bags for a little while, but once I started getting some more I realized how much I really needed them in my outfits,” Keto admits.
5. Thrift for a unique wardrobe
Most of the pieces in Keto’s closet come from a variety of places, from thrift shops and resale shops to Etsy, eBay, The RealReal and beyond. You’ll never know what you can find until you start looking.
