Timothée Chalamet made headlines at the Critics Choice Awards on Sunday with an unexpected and heartfelt declaration of love for Kylie Jenner, transforming an otherwise routine event into a memorable occasion.
After securing the best actor award for his role in the new ping-pong drama “Marty Supreme,” Chalamet concluded his acceptance speech by expressing gratitude to his “partner of three years.” He thanked her for being his “foundation” and publicly professed, “I love you.”
In the audience, Jenner was visibly moved, with cameras capturing her emotional reaction as tears welled up in her eyes.
This public display of affection marked a significant shift for Chalamet, who had previously avoided discussing his relationship with Jenner publicly. It also came as a surprise following rumors that he had ended their relationship abruptly late last year.
However, fans should be cautious in interpreting this moment as a complete transformation of the 30-year-old actor’s public persona.
For insiders have told the Daily Mail that his ‘well-crafted’ speech to honor Jenner, 28, was not as spontaneous as it appeared.

‘He’s been talking for weeks about the right time to publicly say he loves Kylie,’ said one insider, who added that Chalamet had hoped it would ‘set the record straight’ and ‘shut down the negative chatter’ about their relationship.
Perhaps he has learned a lot from Jenner’s famous family over these past three years, masters as they are of capturing the public’s attention.
‘Everything that goes through the Kardashians and Jenners is planned, and it was important for both Timothée and Kylie to get the current story of their relationship out there in the way they want it to be,’ a second source told the Daily Mail.
‘They have had their problems, but they wanted the world to know that, as of today, they are okay. They both knew that saying “I love you” was going to go everywhere, she knew where the camera was, it was well-crafted.
‘We will see future PDA at all the upcoming award shows because they both want that to be the story.’
The first insider agreed: ‘Timothée and Kylie are fully back on. They’ve definitely had bumps in the road, but now they’re stronger than ever.
‘Though, obviously, Timothée made no reference to the break-ups in his speech and made it sound like it has been smooth sailing all along – but that isn’t the case.’
It was January 2023 when the couple were first linked after being spotted happily chatting at a show during Paris Fashion Week.

Since then it’s been passionate kisses at a Beyoncé concert, holding hands on the red carpet and even, last month, lurid matching orange-leather ensembles at the Los Angeles premiere of Marty Supreme.
But there have also been the unavoidable problems.
Most notable is Chalamet’s apparent refusal to ever discuss their relationship in public.
For a December 2025 cover interview with Vogue, he bluntly told the magazine: ‘I just don’t have anything to say.’
As far back as last October, the Daily Mail exclusively reported that opposing views on marriage and children had allegedly driven a wedge between the couple.
At the time, a source said Chalamet was ‘on the brink of calling it quits’ because his ‘career is skyrocketing and the last thing he wants right now is to be a father.’
News followed in November that he had ‘broken up with Kylie’, who has two children with rapper Travis Scott.
What’s now changed?

Well, according to our insiders, the ever-youthful Call Me By Your Name star has suddenly begun to think about his future with Jenner more seriously.
There has even been ‘talk of children’, our first source said.
But it may also be true that Chalamet’s declaration of love on Sunday was an attempt to quell the increasingly negative reaction to Jenner among his fans.
The most ardent – who call themselves Chalamaniacs and are unofficially led by 58-year-old Simone Cromer, known by her online alias Club Chalamet – have gone so far as to eradicate all mention of Jenner, who they despise, while others have even launched a perverse campaign dubbed ‘Operation Unwelcome’ to alienate her and ‘protect’ Chalamet.
In their eyes, the Kardashian scion is not worthy of the Columbia-educated, French-speaking thespian.
And the vitriol has, understandably, taken its toll.
‘The haters don’t really bother Timothée because he hardly ever reads what they have to say, but Kylie does and she’s been upset by it and that upsets him,’ our first insider said.
‘It’s another reason he’s been wanting to set the record straight about his love for her. He wants to try his best to shut down the negative chatter.’
Gallant, indeed – though you’d surely be forgiven for asking why it took him quite so long.
