TINA KNOWLES OPENS UP ABOUT BLUE IVY AND RUMI CARTER PERFORMING ON STAGE

Tina Knowles has watched her granddaughters, Blue Ivy and Rumi Carter, step into the spotlight and she couldn’t be prouder of how much they’ve grown.

In a recent interview with Extra Tv, Knowles opened up about what it’s been like watching 13-year-old Blue Ivy shine, from her appearances on the Renaissance tour to her more recent moment in Cowboy Carter.

“Well, it’s the best,” Knowles shared. “Because at the end of the day, the most important bonus of that is I just see the confidence growing every day.”

“Blue is tall. She’s like 5’9” and she’s 13 years old,” Knowles added. “And I would always say, ‘Stand tall, ‘cause your grandma always wanted to be tall.’ And she would still kind of slump a little bit. And now we got the model pose and she is strutting and she is confident. And that’s the most important thing to me.”

Though proud of Blue’s accomplishments, Knowles admitted she secretly hopes her granddaughter chooses a different path.

“My wish for her is I wish that she would do something else. I hope that she doesn’t go into entertainment,” she said. “Just because I think it’s a huge sacrifice. It’s a huge sacrifice on your life. But if she chooses to do it, I’m gonna be right up front screaming and cheering. But hopefully she’ll choose something else.”

As for why Blue got the green light to join the tour in the first place, Knowles said it all came down to confidence. “That’s why her mom let her do it because she got her confidence there. And it’s beautiful to see.”

Knowles also opened up about how 6-year-old Rumi Carter made her way to the stage and how it was something she had been eager to do.

“She told us every night during Renaissance, ‘I’m ready. I’m ready to go out there,’” Knowles recalled. “And, you know, we were like, ‘Okay, next time.’ And this time, her mom let her go. And it’s wonderful to see her out there.”

“They need to let her let loose because she is back there doing choreography and twirling and doing all pliés and everything else. And I’m like, let her loose one night!”

Reflecting on a recent moment when all four generations were on stage—Tina, Beyoncé, Blue Ivy, and Rumi—Knowles called it a full-circle moment.

She said, “It was on my bucket list to be on stage with them. And so, it was wonderful. That experience was great. And seeing the audience from that perspective, it was on my bucket list. But I’m done.”
