In a dramatic twist worthy of reality TV, President Donald Trump pardoned Todd and Julie Chrisley after they served time for bank fraud and tax evasion. The Chrisley Knows Best stars received clemency on May 27, 2025. Sources close to the family say the news came as a complete shock to both. Julie reportedly broke down in tears when daughter Savannah shared the news, while Todd needed confirmation from prison staff before he believed it was real. Here’s what Todd said about praying in prison “every night” before his surprise pardoning during his first TV appearance since his release.

Todd, Julie, Grayson, and Savannah Chrisley sit down with Lara Trump to discuss the presidential pardon

Todd and Julie Chrisley, stars of Chrisley Knows Best, received a presidential pardon after serving time for a multimillion-dollar financial fraud scheme that rocked their once-glamorous reality TV image. The couple went to prison in 2022 for conspiring to defraud banks out of over $30 million in fake loans and submitting false financial documents to fund their lavish lifestyle, along with tax evasion. Todd was sentenced to 12 years and Julie to seven.

Both Todd and Julie received an early release following a surprise presidential pardon from Donald Trump in May 2025. After their release, the couple reunited with their children in an emotional homecoming and wasted no time plotting their public return. They announced plans to relaunch their podcast, Chrisley Confessions, and sit for a televised interview with Lara Trump.

In an early clip from Fox News Channel’s My View with Lara Trump, Todd, Julie, Savannah, and Grayson Chrisley sit down and discuss the presidential pardon.

“I called Savannah one more time,” Julie says, “and she said, he did it, he signed it! And I just started busting out crying. And everyone was looking around, and then I just hung up. I was so nervous, I just hung up. It was the craziest thing, and everybody was just looking at me, because, unfortunately, most of the news that you get in prison is bad news. You know, so they’re like, are you OK? I’m like, I am. I’m getting out of here; I’m getting out of here.”

Todd Chrisley explained what he prayed for while in prison during his first television appearance since his pardon

While speaking on My View with Lara Trump, Todd Chrisley reflected on learning of President Donald Trump pardoning him.

“This guy stops me and goes, ‘Man, I think you just got pardoned.’ And I said, ‘Yeah, OK,’ and I just kept on walking,” Todd said with Savannah, Grayson, and Julie Chrisley by his side. “And so when I went into my dorm, one of the guys, the COs, he came by and he goes, ‘Are you good?’ And I said, ‘As good as I can be,’ and he said, ‘Todd, you just got pardoned. They sent me down here to make sure you’re OK.’ And I said, ‘Well, they don’t need to be worrying about me now. Hell, if I’m pardoned, I’m great.’”

Todd says he and his family “owe thanks to God,” as “God touched President Trump’s heart” and led to the pardon. “God led the people to advocate for us,” the Chrisley Knows Best star continues. “And so I’m grateful because every night, I would pray that God would return me home to my wife and my children. And he did that, so I’m grateful.”

Savannah Chrisley says she’s ready to ‘get back to normal’

Savannah Chrisley told People that it’s “been amazing” to have Todd and Julie Chrisley back home after their short prison stint.

“Oh my gosh, it has been amazing. It’s still just kind of … it doesn’t feel real,” she told the publication. “We were going to bed last night. We’re like, ‘Is this real?’ And then, I wake up this morning and my mom’s walking into my bedroom and I’m like, it’s absolutely insane!”

“We are just so grateful and ready to kind of start getting back to normal life, obviously, the best we can,” Savannah added. “Everything’s a whirlwind right now, and it’s kind hard to live a normal life with how things are right now, but we’ll get there.”

Lara Trump’s interview with Julie, Todd, Savannah, and Grayson Chrisley airs Saturday, June 28, at 9 p.m. ET during FOX News Channel’s My View with Lara Trump.
