Thanks, I Hate It

Grant Ellis is looking for his perfect match on season 29 of ‘The Bachelor,’ but he might have made a few mistakes along the way.

Grant Ellis’ season of The Bachelor is winding down. Fan reactions to season 29 have been mixed, and we totally understand why. While we have loved watching Grant’s journey, we have to admit that not every moment was incredible. In fact, we think Grant made a few mistakes along the way, and one could affect his future romantic interests.

Grant Ellis’ first big mistake: Getting caught up in Carolina’s drama

Grant Ellis’ season of The Bachelor was not devoid of drama. It even saw one contestant walk out of the competition because of it. During week 4, Rose Sombke decided to self-eliminate from the competition because she felt all trust between her and Grant had been broken.

Grant isn’t the first bachelor to get caught up in the drama surrounding the women competing for his heart. He is one of only a handful who has let that drama seriously influence how his season played out, though. Grant allowed himself to get involved in Carolina Quixano and Rose’s drama so deeply that it drove one of them out of the competition. While we aren’t saying Rose was the one for Grant, she certainly could have made it further in the competition if Grant hadn’t gotten so profoundly entrenched in the petty drama.

Grant Ellis’ second big mistake: Getting rid of Dina over Zoe

Dina Lupanco might not have been everyone’s favorite, but Grant seemed to like her. He liked Dina so much that he allowed her to convince him to send Carolina Quixano home. Their connection was strong. It was far stronger than his connection with Zoe, with whom he didn’t have a single one-on-one date until his hometown visit. Still, he opted to send her packing.

We think the decision was one of Grant Ellis’ biggest missteps on this season of The Bachelor. While Grant sent Dina home because their hometown date didn’t go as he had planned, he may have acted too hastily. Dina’s family didn’t want to be on TV, and while that doesn’t fit in with the production of the series, it is entirely understandable. We are sure he would have met them later if he hadn’t sent her home. Now, we’ll never know if Dina was his perfect match.

The third big mistake is about to happen

Season 29 of The Bachelor is winding down. While Grant has made some big missteps during his time as the show’s lead, the biggest mistake is about to happen. Jesse Palmer revealed that he had to coax Grant to make a decision in the final moments of the show. Grant is seen saying he doesn’t know who to choose in trailers for the finale. Verbalizing that doubt so emphatically is going to prove problematic.

According to several spoilers, Grant ultimately chose one contestant to commit to at the end of the series. Still, his doubts don’t make him look good. We worry that his winner will feel a bit put out when she learns just how unsure Grant was.
