Quinn Maybrook, portrayed by Katie Douglas, and her father Glenn, played by Aaron Adams, relocate to the quaint town of Kettle Springs, Missouri, in search of a new beginning after the passing of Quinn’s mother. As Quinn mingles with local teenagers, she discovers that the town is struggling, largely due to the closure of their corn syrup factory. The community holds a group of teens responsible for this downfall, believing their wild antics led to their deaths at the site. However, the true threat to Kettle Springs isn’t rebellious youth but a sinister clown bent on adding to its list of victims.
Despite its whimsical title—drawn from a 2020 young adult novel—Clown in a Cornfield proves to be a robust horror film that skillfully upends traditional tropes. It offers a thrilling mix of gory scenes, humorous moments, and unexpectedly intriguing themes. Fans of Clown in a Cornfield may also enjoy the director’s earlier work, Tucker and Dale vs. Evil, which shares a similar knack for blending horror with comedy.
