Many parents can still effortlessly sing the catchy jingle, “I don’t wanna grow up, I’m a Toys ‘R’ Us kid…” and this year, that nostalgic tune has found new relevance. Toys ‘R’ Us is making a comeback with a flurry of new store openings, offering families a chance to relive the enchanting experiences many remember from their own childhoods.

For today’s youngsters, buying toys often means tapping on a screen or browsing a toy section in a larger retail store. However, for Gen X and Millennial parents, Toys ‘R’ Us was the ultimate destination—a place of wonder where you could spend endless hours exploring, hoping that Santa would notice what you picked out.

Now, the beloved retailer is aiming to revive that sense of wonder for the next generation of children.

This autumn, Toys ‘R’ Us unveiled plans to launch over 30 new outlets across the country, featuring both full-fledged stores and temporary holiday pop-ups. By teaming up with Go! Retail Group, the brand is capitalizing on the success of its flagship locations to reestablish its presence in the holiday shopping arena.

“This new phase of expansion brings the magic of Toys ‘R’ Us to even more communities,” stated Executive VP Jamie Uitdenhowen in a recent press release. She emphasized that this growth “offers the joyful shopping experience that has made us a beloved destination for generations.”

Families can expect bright, kid-friendly spaces designed for browsing, playing, and soaking in the excitement, something that simply can’t be replicated with an online cart.

Today’s stores stock all the favorites kids are obsessed with such as LEGO, Barbie, Hot Wheels, NERF, Paw Patrol, and beyond, but what sets Toys ‘R’ Us apart is the experience. Interactive play areas, colorful displays, and even appearances from Geoffrey the Giraffe remind families what made the brand so special to begin with.

For kids who’ve never walked through a store dedicated entirely to toys, this is something completely new. And for parents, it’s a chance to share a piece of their own childhood.
