Masika Kalysha is reaching out to her community for support and prayers following the tragic passing of her estranged husband, Jamar Champ. The devastating news comes after a fatal car accident in Houston claimed his life.
Earlier today, Masika expressed her grief on her X account, sharing, “God woke me up at 2:00am… I couldn’t sleep. I didn’t know why. Jesus Christ I just received the worst news of my life. Pray for me and my kids please.” Her plea highlights the overwhelming shock and sorrow she is facing.
The accident occurred just after midnight on Interstate 10 near Washington Avenue, as reported by KHOU 11. Investigators revealed that a BMW, driving in the wrong direction, collided head-on with Champ’s Tesla Cybertruck. The crash was so severe that the BMW caught fire, and the impact forced the Cybertruck into a nearby semi-truck.
Tragically, both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities later confirmed the identity of the Cybertruck’s driver, 38-year-old Jamar Champ, through his family.
Jamar Champ’s Instagram posts serve as a poignant reminder of his love for his children, whom he cherished deeply. He shared a daughter, Amari, with Masika Kalysha, and was a devoted stepfather to Kalysha’s eldest daughter, Khari. His loss is felt deeply by all who knew him.
In one post, he posed with both girls, writing, “I don’t do for one without doing for the other. Although my stepdaughter has a pops, I still treat them the exact same with unconditional love.”
In another post, he shared a photo with Amari, writing, “You are your child’s inner voice. What and how you say is what they remember! And for daddy, we set the standard of what our lil princess should or will accept.”
Amari recently celebrated her third birthday on October 7. The day before, Jamar posted a touching message about his daughter: “My baby last day being 2yrs old!!! I thank God for one of the best blessings and decisions of my life. She change me and made me closer to God almighty and to trust his word… I thank you Amari for being the best thing happen to me Princess Amari Champ your smile is worth any fight any judge any argument to be your Daddy!!!
