Mary recently opened up about her deep sense of regret for not recognizing the full extent of Robert Jr.’s struggles with addiction. She expressed, “I’m incredibly disappointed in myself. It feels as if I failed him in some way.”
Regarding Robert Jr.’s circumstances leading up to his passing, he had been released from Salt Lake County Metro Jail earlier in the month after serving a two-month sentence, as noted by his lawyer, Clayton Simms. Despite her son being incarcerated, the reality television star saw this period as a necessary intervention.
“At least I know he’s in a place where he can’t use,” she remarked during the sixth season reunion of RHOSLC that aired last month. “I’ve had to let go so he could face his own consequences and make his own choices. Unfortunately, he’s learning the hard way, but I’m at peace with that.”
When discussing how she and her husband, Robert Cosby Sr., are managing their grief, Mary shared with TMZ on February 25, “Our cherished son Robert Jr. has been called back to the Lord. Even though our hearts are heavy, we find solace in God’s promise and knowing he is finally at rest. We appreciate your prayers and rely on the Lord to guide us through this time of mourning.”
