McLean was initially reported missing on May 18. The last sighting of the actor was on May 15 at his home in Lions Bay, a community situated approximately 20 kilometers north of Vancouver. On Friday, officers with the RCMP revealed they had located McLean’s remains in the Lions Bay vicinity, according to CBC.

“As the investigation continues to unfold, homicide investigators are working to collect and analyze evidence, review CCTV footage and conduct interviews to build a timeline of Mr. McLean’s activities prior to May 15, 2026,” Corporal Esther Tupper of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said.

“We are pursuing all available leads as we work to find answers for the family, friends and loved ones of Mr. McLean,” she added.

McLean’s most recent onscreen credit was in a 2026 episode of Netflix’s Virgin River, where he played a barfly. He’d also appeared in Murder in a Small Town, The Irrational, Arrow, Sirens, Loudermilk, Hallmark’s Signed, Sealed, Delivered: Higher Ground, and other TV shows and movies, according to his IMDb profile.

McLean’s agent, Jodi Caplan, told the CBS that her agency, Lucas Talent was “proud to represent Stew for over a decade.”

“He was a well respected and admired member of the film and television community in Vancouver,” her statement continued. “He will always be remembered for his kindness and humor.”
