A Ugandan woman recently expressed her surprise at the improvements she noticed during her visit to Murtala Muhammed International Airport. Her experience this time sharply contrasted with her previous visit two years ago.
Reflecting on her earlier trip, she recalled encountering airport staff who requested dollars and shillings, leaving her with a less-than-favorable impression of the airport’s operations.
However, on this recent visit, she observed a significant change in airport personnel’s behavior, noting their newfound professionalism. She was pleased to report that no one solicited money from her, which marked a positive evolution in her travel experience at the airport.
In her words, she said:
“Murtala Muhammed Airport has really changed. When I came to Nigeria two years ago, the airport staff were asking me for dollars and shillings. Now, everyone is acting professional and no one asked me for any money.”
Her statement highlights a noticeable shift in the conduct of airport officials, especially regarding complaints of extortion often reported by travellers in the past.
Many have described her experience as a sign of improvement, while others hope such professionalism becomes consistent in the country.
One user wrote, “Na so e suppose be. I hope say this change go last.” Another added, “Good to hear something positive for once.”
