Taylor Swift was notably absent from the audience when Travis Kelce made his return to the gridiron as the Kansas City Chiefs faced off against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, November 16. Her absence meant she missed witnessing her fiancé achieve a significant milestone for the Chiefs.
The renowned singer, now 35, opted not to make the trip to Empower Field at Mile High Stadium in Denver for this encounter—an anticipated decision given her pattern of skipping Kelce’s away games during the ongoing 2025-2026 NFL season.
In her absence, Kelce reached a career highlight by setting the Chiefs’ all-time touchdown record, marking his 84th career touchdown in the fourth quarter. This pivotal score pushed the team to a 19-16 lead with just over eight minutes remaining. Remarkably, this was only his third touchdown ever at Mile High Stadium.
Kelce had previously equaled the franchise record during a Monday Night Football clash against the Washington Commanders, a mark that had been held by NFL great Priest Holmes.
Sunday’s showdown between the Chiefs and the Broncos carried significant weight for Kelce, 36, and his teammates. Entering the game with a 5-4 record, the Chiefs were vying for position in the competitive AFC West division, where the Broncos led with an 8-2 standing. At the time, the Chiefs had not yet secured a spot in the AFC playoff picture.
Swift was most recently in attendance at a Chiefs game when the team beat the Washington Commanders at home on October 27. After a disappointing loss to the Buffalo Bills on November 2, the Chiefs enjoyed some much-needed downtime during their bye week.
Travis declined to tell his brother, Jason Kelce, about his bye week plans during the November 5 episode of their “New Heights” podcast.
“For the next week, at least take your mind a little elsewhere,” Jason, 38, prompted. “What are you doing? Anything fun [or are] you getting into any travel? What are you doing over the week? Tell us about your personal life.”
Despite Jason’s best attempt, Travis did not take the bait.
“No, no,” he replied. “Obviously, you set goals out in the beginning of this season to win the division, win the conference [and] get that home field advantage, make everyone have to come through Arrowhead. Right now, it’s just not that.”
Travis emphasized that during his week off he would remain focused on what the Chiefs could and need to do to succeed when they returned to play the Broncos.
“I’m not thinking about [the playoffs yet],” he said. “I’m thinking about how the f*** are we going to beat the Denver Broncos? That’s going to be on my mind for the next two weeks.”
Despite Travis’ insistence about concentrating on work during the bye week, he still found time for a couple of date nights with Swift in New York City. The couple — who announced their engagement in August — were spotted hitting up The Polo Bar on November 5 and Zero Bond on November 6.
Although Swift and Travis enjoy the occasional joint public outing, the pair are just as happy to simply spend time together at home.
“Taylor and Travis are really chill,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly in October. “On a typical night in, they’re casually having dinner and figuring out what to stream. It’s very domestic and calm.”
While the duo’s New York date nights are paparazzi-worthy events, they are just like everyone else behind closed doors.
“Taylor and Travis are super simple,” the insider revealed. “People expect glam when they visit them, but it’s the complete opposite. Sometimes they’re in sweats, eating takeout. It’s not what you’d expect.”
As for their impending wedding, the plans are “coming along,” according to a second source. “They are both [very] involved, and Taylor thinks it’s cute that Travis wants to help.”
Meanwhile, the first insider told Us that Swift and Travis “don’t want a long engagement” since they “very much want to start a family in the next year or so.”
