Let Taylor Swift do her thing. That’s basically what the Grammy winner’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, has revealed he does when Swift’s creative juices start flowing. But the NFL player doesn’t sit by and do nothing either.

During a Jan. 14, 2025, guest spot on The Pat McAfee Show, host Pat McAfee asked Kelce about being around Swift when she’s inspired to write. 

“Let’s just say you’re hanging out and having a little dinner and all of the sudden the creative juice sparks,” McAfee said (via YouTube). “And the absolute beast that you’re sitting with, who is going to go down as maybe the most famous icon in the history of music…Are you a motivator every single time?”

So, how did Kelce reply? He quickly told McAfee, “Oh, yeah. You know it.” The Kansas City Chiefs tight end then shared he “never chime[s] in” on Swift’s music. 

Instead, he takes on the role of the “Fortnight” singer’s cheerleader. “I’m here to support it,” the three-time Super Bowl winner said. “I’m here to see where it can go.” 

Kelce seems to be doing a good job as a source of “support” for Swift. The pop star thanked him after winning Video of the Year for “Fortnight” at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards. In her acceptance speech, Swift told the audience she’d “always remember” Kelce “cheering” and bringing “happiness and fun and magic” to the set while shooting the music video. 

When asked if Swift had written songs about a certain “good guy”—ahem, him—Kelce shared “there might be a few” before noting he’s staying tight-lipped on the subject. “You know I can’t say, you know I can’t say any of that,” he said. “I hear music everywhere.”

“So High School” and “The Alchemy,” two tracks from Swift’s latest album, 2024’s “The Tortured Poets Department,” are thought to be inspired by Kelce.

Kelce also suggested Swift will attend his first game of the playoffs at Arrowhead Stadium in St. Louis, Mo., on Jan. 18, 2025, when the Chiefs face off against the Houston Texans. 

Sorry, Swifties. Don’t expect Kelce and Swift to team up on a song just yet. In light of Kelce’s comments, it looks like the 2024 report that the pair, who began dating in the summer of 2023, would be working together on music won’t become a reality. 

At the time an insider told Life & Style that Swift saw Kelce as her “muse” with “the potential to be a lot more.” The “Down Bad” singer reportedly felt strongly that the NFL player is “the type of person that would flourish in the studio.”

The report also claimed Swift and Kelce had already logged time in the studio together “for fun.” Furthermore, that Kelce had started writing song lyrics.
