Travis Kelce’s former girlfriend, Kayla Nicole, recently deactivated her X (formerly Twitter) account following the reemergence of offensive tweets from her past. The resurfaced posts have sparked criticism as they reportedly contain racist and homophobic remarks. Interestingly, Kelce now faces a similar situation, as his own past tweets have come under scrutiny.
Travis Kelce’s old tweets have resurfaced
Nicole’s previous tweets came back into the spotlight after she dressed up as Toni Braxton for Halloween, performing a lip-sync to the hit song “He Wasn’t Man Enough.” Some fans of Taylor Swift interpreted this as a subtle jab at Swift and Kelce, prompting them to delve into Nicole’s social media history.
In the wake of Swift’s fans calling out Nicole for her historical tweets, Kelce’s old posts have also attracted attention. His tweets allegedly include derogatory language about individuals with intellectual disabilities, self-identification as “homophobic,” misogynistic comments about women, and disparaging remarks about people who are overweight.
This scrutiny isn’t new; Kelce’s social media history has been examined repeatedly since the inception of his relationship with Taylor Swift in 2023.
Kelce’s tweets have become a point of discussion amid the ongoing controversy surrounding Nicole’s past posts.
Travis Kelce has received criticism for his tweets
People have referenced Kelce’s tweets in the conversation around Nicole’s posts.
“Looking at both Kayla and Travis’ tweet history, it’s obvious they’re actually meant to be,” wrote one Reddit user.
A number of people have criticized Swift’s fans, who are Nicole’s primary critics, of being hypocritical.
“So if she can be harassed for problematic tweets from 2010, wouldn’t that mean Travis’s old problematic tweets are also within the statute of limitations and indicative of his true nature,” someone noted.
“Guessing Swifties are silent on Travis’ old tweets,” wrote another person. “Their hypocrisy and delusion never ceases to amaze.”
Many people agreed that both Nicole and Kelce come across poorly in the matter.
“To no one’s surprise everyone involved is kinda s****y,” wrote one person. “The only good thing coming out from this is Toni Braxton’s song getting airplay. It truly is such a classic. Early 2000s rnb was so good.”
Taylor Swift reportedly shaded Kayla Nicole on her latest album
Nicole’s Halloween video is not the first time she and Swift have clashed. Many people believe that Swift’s song “Opalite” off her The Life of a Showgirl album references Nicole.
“You couldn’t understand it, why you felt alone / You were in it for real, she was in her phone / And you were just a pose,” Swift sings.
Many fans believe that this references a video of Nicole and Kelce while they were still together. In it, a visibly annoyed Kelce asks Nicole to get off her phone.
“Oh my God. Get off your phone,” he tells her. “You’re not even drinking your wine anymore. Can we go?”
Swift typically remains tight-lipped on who her songs are about, but her fans have become experts at getting to the bottom of the person behind the lyrics.
