Another Wes Anderson flick is on the way. A little over a year after the release of his Oscar-winning fantasy anthology The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Three More, the acclaimed filmmaker is back with another quirky, star-studded venture.

From a screenplay collaboration with Roman Coppola, Anderson is bringing to audiences The Phoenician Scheme, a black comedy centering on a father-daughter duo involved in espionage. Benicio Del Toro is set to lead the project.

Filmed last year in Germany, Focus Features will distribute the film theatrically this May.

Here’s everything we know about the highly anticipated new film, including its plot, release date, star-studded cast, and the just-debuted trailer.

What is The Phoenician Scheme about?

According to the logline, The Phoenician Scheme follows businessman Zsa-zsa Korda, “one of the richest men in Europe,” with his nun daughter Sister Liesel, whom he has appointed the heir to his estate. Along with their tutor Bjorn, Korda and his daughter embark on a journey to protect the estate, which is under attack by several forces.

When will The Phoenician Scheme be released?

The Phoenician Scheme will have a limited theatrical release on May 30, before expanding nationwide on June 6. Stay tuned for more details about where you’ll be able to find it on streaming!

Who stars in The Phoenician Scheme?

As always, Anderson really knows how to put together a star-studded cast for his visually unique cinematic treats.

This time around, Benicio Del Toro returns from his last venture with Anderson in 2021’s The French Dispatch and here picks up leading man duties. He’ll play Korda, the eccentric businessman who is rumored to appear in nearly every shot of the film. Relative newcomer Mia Threapleton plays Liesel, and Michael Cera plays Bjorn Lund. Rounding out the rest of the cast are * takes a deep breath * Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Riz Ahmed, Jeffrey Wright, Scarlett Johansson, Richard Ayoade, Benedict Cumberbatch, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Willem Dafoe, Bill Murray, and probably many more.
