Annabelle Taurua, a beauty expert from Fresha, advises enthusiasts to be cautious, particularly if they are attempting to bleach their brows at home.
“For those thinking about trying out bleached brows, it’s crucial to proceed with care and, preferably, seek professional help,” Taurua advised. “The area around the eyebrows is sensitive and close to the eyes, so using harsh bleaching agents or leaving them on too long can lead to irritation or uneven results.”
Taurua recommends using products specifically designed for facial hair when bleaching brows and stresses the importance of conducting a patch test beforehand while carefully timing the process. “Individuals with darker brows may need to bleach gradually to safely achieve the desired lift without harming the hair,” she explained.

Highlighting common pitfalls, Taurua cautioned against lightening brows too quickly, as this can result in an undesired orange tint.
“One of the most common mistakes people make is trying to achieve an ultra-light blonde result in a single session,” she said. “If you have naturally dark brows, lifting them too quickly can cause the hairs to develop warm or orange tones instead of the soft, almost invisible finish often seen in fashion editorials. In many cases, achieving the right shade requires a gradual process rather than one round of bleach.”
She also warned against using the wrong products, as they can leave the skin around the eyes irritated.
“Another mistake is using standard hair bleach rather than products formulated for facial hair,” she stated. “The skin around the eyebrows is delicate and close to the eyes, so using harsh formulas can cause irritation or uneven color. Choosing gentler products and performing a patch test beforehand can help avoid unnecessary damage.”
Those with bleached brows should also prepare to change their makeup.
“Once brows are bleached, the face can look very different,” Taurua noted. “Without darker brows anchoring the features, some people feel their complexion appears washed out. Adjusting your makeup, for example, by adding definition with eyeliner, mascara, blush, or contour, helps restore balance and structure to the face.”

Brow expert Joey Healy told the publication that celebrities often fake bleached eyebrows using makeup.
“You can use your concealer, so it kind of looks like your skin tone, and a mascara wand,” he noted.
That said, Jenner has discussed actually bleaching her brows for a Vogue campaign in the past.
“I just had to do this campaign shoot, and they wanted bleached brows, so Ariel [Tejada], I think, just left the bleach on for too long and my eyebrows fell off,” the reality star admitted. “So now I’m just trying to get them back.”
