While most people are busy sprucing up their homes for the holiday season, renowned stylist Law Roach is already planning how to style his long-time muse, Zendaya, for the fashion industry’s most prestigious event.
Discussing the preparation for Zendaya’s 2026 Met Gala ensemble, Roach revealed during a Reddit “Ask Me Anything” session on April 30, just days before the May 4 gala, that “it typically starts about five months ahead of time.” He explained, “The process begins with the designer’s vision for the client. Once that’s established, we have a discussion about the inspiration, and then I bring it back to my team.”
Coincidentally, this timeline aligns with when Anna Wintour and her team announce the theme for the annual benefit at The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.
For 2026, with the theme titled “Costume Art,” the exhibition will pair historic and contemporary garments with art pieces spanning over 5,000 years. Attendees can anticipate witnessing some exceptional creations gracing the museum’s illustrious staircase.
