Wicked Fashion: How Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo Embraced Their Roles
While the wicked may not be mourned, there’s certainly an audience for fashion that pays homage to iconic characters.
Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo have taken style cues from Margot Robbie’s successful Barbie wardrobe strategy, as they prepared for the much-anticipated release of Wicked last year. Together, they formed a powerhouse fashion duo that captivated onlookers.
Cynthia Erivo embodied the essence of Elphaba with her sartorial choices, channeling the character’s bold and defiant spirit. Her outfits, reminiscent of the Emerald City and Elphaba’s signature green hue, were crafted with structured couture that seemed ready for any challenge.
Meanwhile, Ariana Grande fully embraced her Glinda persona. Her wardrobe was a dream of pastel pinks, floral designs, ruffles, and polka dots, perfectly capturing the essence of the aspiring witch who would one day earn the title of “good.”
And, suffice it to say, Wicked proved a popular choice for moviegoers, the first installment of director Jon M. Chu‘s two-part saga based on the smash Broadway musical raking in almost $650 million worldwide and earning 10 Oscar nominations.
So, yes, we are ready to defy gravity once more with the Nov. 21 release of Wicked: For Good, with E!’s hour-long livestream from the NYC premiere of the Universal Pictures’ sequel kicking off Nov. 17 at 6:15 p.m. ET/3:15 p.m. PT.
