The truth about Rob Kardashian's super reclusive lifestyle

He dated Rita Ora and was linked to Rihanna during his wild partying years which saw him clocking up club appearances, and even landed him a coveted spot on Dancing with the Stars.

But unlike the rest of his social media-obsessed siblings, Rob Kardashian turned his back on fame, fiercely shunning the attention generated by the family reality show, in favor of a quieter lifestyle shrouded in secrecy.

With a limited presence online, aside from posting the occasional picture of his daughter Dream, and rarely being spotted by the paparazzi, the 38-year-old was largely forgotten about – until last week.

Interest in the reclusive star piqued when he appeared on Kim Kardashian’s Instagram page where he was seen smiling alongside his sisters, mom and nieces and nephews over Easter, in what marked his first public appearance in close to three years.

The sudden reminder of his existence prompted fans to ask: where has Rob been?

Well, despite not being a front-facing Kardashian, sources tell us Kris Jenner’s only son still has an active role in the Kardashian business empire.

But after years of hiding, Rob made a rare appearance on his sister Kim Kardashian’s Instagram page this week, and it reignited a fierce fascination into the life of the extremely reclusive star

In fact, the Daily Mail has learned that the former socialite ‘constantly’ helps in making vital ‘decisions.’

‘Rob is very involved with his family even though you do not see it on TV,’ they said.

‘He prefers keeping a low profile, but that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t have a job to do. Rob is constantly helping in decision making for his family.’

He currently serves as the chief financial officer for Kardashian Incorporated and reportedly ‘doesn’t need’ any ‘financial assistance’ from his family members.

‘He earns his own living. He is not taken care of, or kept, and does not just expect them to give him money,’ they added. ‘He works for the brand and earns his living.’

Rob earned a degree from the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business in 2009, and has launched numerous business ventures over the years.

In 2015, he released his lucrative designer sock company, Arthur George, which is said to be ‘his money-maker.’

But at one point he was forced to sell half the company to his mom after his messy legal battle with his ex Blac Chyna, with whom he shares eight-year-old Dream, left him ‘nearly $300,000 in debt.’

‘Previously, the line’s success was in large part due to my regular posting and general promotion on social media,’ he explained in 2018 during a custody hearing, according to The Blast, adding that Chyna’s request for a restraining order prohibited what he could post online.

‘My income now is insufficient to pay for my expenses,’ he said. ‘As of January 17, 2018, I am short nearly $300,000… I no longer own a home. I now live in my mother’s home.’

He said that Kris kept Arthur George ‘afloat’ when he was struggling and ‘infused it with capital.’

‘He is still very much involved in the business which is his money-maker,’ divulged our insider.

‘He has plans to leave it to Dream one day. Rob doesn’t trust anyone but his family to run a business.’

His explosive court battle with Chyna, real name Angela White, was reportedly the catalyst for his decision to take a step back from the spotlight.

The estranged couple started dating in early 2016 and welcomed their daughter in November of that year.

But they split soon after, and things quickly spiraled.

Rob, along with his half-sister Kylie Jenner, filed a lawsuit against Chyna in September 2017 for ‘battery, assault, and vandalism.’

Court documents alleged the rapper, now a born again Christian, damaged a home that Kylie owned and described her as ‘nothing short of an outright fraud to shake down the Kardashian family.’

In response, Chyna sued the entire Kardashian family for $108 million in damages.

‘In revenge, the Kardashian-Jenner family became media predators, slut-shaming her on social media and killing her hit television show, which had already begun filming a second season,’ the lawsuit read according to Insider.

The document continued, ‘The unwritten rule no one told Ms. White when she embarked on a relationship with Mr. Kardashian is: the entire family takes it personally if you leave and will come after you, using their fame, wealth, and power to take you down.’

In 2022, Rob dropped his case against Chyna, and months later, a jury sided with the Kardashians in regards to her suit.

Thankfully, the pair have since established an amicable relationship and successfully co-parent Dream.

Rob and his daughter were living in Kris’ old house having moved in in 2017 after his split from Chyna. In February, it was revealed that the LA mansion had been put on the market for $13.5 million.

He is currently living next door to sister Khloe. Speaking about her ‘elusive’ brother on a recent episode of Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast she said: ‘We all live in the same gated area, so he lives right next door to me.’

Rob rarely leaves his home and only travels if he joins the family on vacation.

‘He doesn’t have to do much because all his groceries and errands are done for him by staff,’ said our source.

‘He also doesn’t travel much unless it is on the family vacations, which he has been on.’

A second insider told the Daily Mail that after the Chyna drama ‘many things imploded’ and Rob felt like he was ‘being judged’ by the public over his ‘various weight and mental health issues.’

He was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2015, and later that year, he was hospitalized after he failed to take his insulin.

The following year he revealed his weight was the reason he missed Kim’s 2014 wedding to Kanye West in Italy, telling People : ‘I just wasn’t comfortable.

‘There were cameras at the airport on our trip there and I was very unhappy with the person I saw in all the pictures.’

In 2016, his mom Kris spoke about his mental health issues while addressing his absence from the show.

‘He was depressed, just wasn’t feeling good, and didn’t know why,’ she said.

‘It’s not that he doesn’t want to be on the show. It’s just he wasn’t feeling good.’

Right now he is ‘in a good place mentally and is physically in shape.’

‘He needed to figure out a way to step away from it all, and he did it because if he continued to be in the limelight, he would have imploded as well,’ the source said.

‘He never wants to be a liability for his family, and staying away makes him out of sight and out of mind.

‘What is important to him is being a father and that is his main focus and while he watches his daughter grow up, he wants her to have as normal of a life as possible.’

The source added that he fears returning to the spotlight might mess up his ‘much better co-parenting relationship’ with Chyna

‘They both have made strides to show a much better version of themselves,’ they said.

‘Rob believes if he goes on the show… or be out and about like his sisters, that could single-handedly ruin everything he helped build up being a father and a co-parent.’
