Two high school sweethearts, 130 acres of French royal history, one never-ending project — that’s the premise of HGTV’s Castle Impossible, a show following a renovation plan that is equal parts magical and insanely daunting. The eighth and final episode of Season 1 just aired on June 17, and fans are already dying for another season of gorgeous room transformations and a continued hunt for buried treasure.

The story began when Daphne Reckert inherited the Château de Lésigny, a 500-year-old castle located in Lésigny, France, from her grandfather in 2020. The grand chateau, which once hosted royal guests like King Louis XIII, had since fallen into a state of disrepair due to neglect. After her grandfather passed, the task fell to Reckert and her husband Ian Figueira to restore the estate to its former glory.

Each nook and cranny of the castle is a massive undertaking, and after just eight episodes, Reckert and Figueira have barely scratched the surface of the almost insurmountable project. They also have yet to find the rumored fortune hidden by previous owner Leonora Dori Galigai, and how cruel would it be to cut off the show mid-treasure hunt?

Will Castle Impossible return for a second season? Or will viewers never get to see a fully restored Château de Lésigny? Here’s everything we know about the future of Castle Impossible.

Has Castle Impossible Been Renewed For Season 2?

Nope, not yet. HGTV recently confirmed with Country Living that there is currently “no news to share” regarding a possible Season 2 of the charming renovation series. Still, there’s no need to fret — with an outpouring of love from viewers and many more rooms to tackle on Reckert and Figueira’s renovation journey, the future of Castle Impossible looks promising.

When Could Castle Impossible Return To HGTV?

We have no idea. Sit tight, HGTV-heads — if the show does get renewed, it’s likely that news of a release date may not come until next spring.

What Might Be The Focus Of Castle Impossible Season 2?

Honestly, the sky’s the limit for such a huge estate. As Reckert illustrates over at HGTV.com, the renovation possibilities for the chateau are endless. “We’re not just fixing one window, we have to fix 134 windows — that’s just for the chateau. And then there’s the lodge. The 28 horse stables. We have the farmhouse, the dove tower — and then there’s the cabin in the woods…it’s immense!” We sure hope that Reckert and Figueira are able to document the immense project with an immense number of seasons.

Viewers can catch Castle Impossible on HGTV and Max.
