Dexter‘s very own Michael C. Hall returns as the narrator of young Dexter Morgan’s (Patrick Gibson) inner voice in the franchise’s prequel series. The cast of Dexter: Original Sin also features Christian Slater, Molly Brown, Christina Milian, James Martinez, Reno Wilson, Alex Shimizu, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Patrick Dempsey.

The original Dexter, which debuted in 2006 and ran for eight seasons, followed forensic analyst Dexter Morgan, who is also a serial killer, taking the lives of murderers in a vigilante style.

Original Sin isn’t the only series that has spawned from the flagship thriller. The sequel series Dexter: New Blood aired on Showtime for a single season before being canceled by the network. Another sequel series, Dexter: Resurrection, is currently in the works, with Hall set to reprise his role as Dexter Morgan.

Is Dexter: Original Sin getting a Season 2?

The streamer has yet to reveal whether or not Dexter: Original Sin Season 2 has gotten the greenlight. However, the Season 1 finale, “Code Blues,” was only just released on Friday (Feb. 14), meaning that there is still time for potential good news to break about the series’ future.

According to Variety, Gibson (who plays young Dexter Morgan) and showrunner Clyde Phillips would like more Dexter: Original Sin, with Gellar returning as Tanya Martin to continue her mentorship of young Dexter.

In the meantime, fans can also look forward to Dexter: Resurrection, which is slated to be released this summer on Paramount+ with Showtime.

Who is in the cast of Dexter: Resurrection?

Alongside Hall, Showtime announced franchise alums Jack Alcott (Dexter: New Blood), David Zayas and James Remar (Dexter) will reprise their respective roles. The network also revealed that Uma Thurman, Peter Dinklage, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Kadia Saraf, Emilia Suárez and Dominic Fumusa have been cast in the series.
