Valerie Bertinelli, known for her candid discussions about her weight challenges, has reached a more balanced and healthier outlook on her body.

The actress and former Jenny Craig ambassador shared with People magazine that she has successfully kept a trimmer physique without resorting to GLP-1 medications like Ozempic, which are commonly used to manage blood sugar levels and promote weight loss.

At 65, Bertinelli remains encouraging of those who have found these treatments to be effective in their personal health journeys.

The former Jenny Craig spokesperson revealed to People that she’s maintained a slimmer figure without the help of GLP-1s – weight loss medications such as Ozempic that lower blood sugar levels.

But the 65-year-old is supportive of anyone who has found them beneficial.

‘I think whatever anybody does to help themselves get to a better place to where they feel good about themselves, they should do it,’ she told the outlet.

As she writes in her upcoming new book Getting Naked: The Quiet Work of Becoming Perfectly Imperfect, due out March 10, Bertinelli stressed that it’s not for her or anyone else to judge how another person goes about losing weight.

‘I think we need to take a lot of the judgment out of all of it,’ said the star, who also revealed she got breast implants in her 20s and had them secretly removed two years ago.

‘Plastic surgery, GLP-1s, anything that someone else is doing that doesn’t affect your life, leave them alone.’

The Food Network alum also shared that she ‘may not want to have plastic surgery but I don’t judge anybody. I don’t judge anybody for how they lose weight. It’s flippin’ hard to do.

‘It doesn’t mean I won’t have a neck lift. It doesn’t mean I won’t try GLP-1s. It means no for now. It’s also helped a lot of people.’

Bertinelli admitted that she has tried Botox, but that she didn’t like the results.

‘I didn’t like how it made my eyebrows go like this,’ she told People, making a strained face. ‘Anyways, you just get bangs and they cover a lot of wrinkles.

‘I so badly wanted to get a neck lift but I’m so scared after what I’ve been through,’ she added, referring to recent procedures she had to remove her breast implants, which led to significant complications including a serious infection.

‘I have to have one more surgery to even them out,’ she noted about the ongoing ordeal.

Referencing her cats, she added, ‘Me and these guys are the only ones looking at my boobs anyways, but I don’t care because I can’t see without my glasses on… I’ll have to date somebody who can’t see.’

Bertinelli’s long-distance romance with East Coast writer Mike Goodnough ended in 2024 after less than a year.

She was previously married to financial planner Tom Vitale from 2011 until 2022. Before that, she was wed to Van Halen rocker Eddie Van Halen from 1981 until 2007.

In an Instagram Story posted in March 2023, Bertinelli shared her thoughts on her breakups.

‘When something is toxic, and it’s only ever been that…Do your best to heal your way to indifference,’ she wrote. ‘You do not have to forgive to move on.’
