Renowned Nigerian social media activist, Verydarkman, has publicly criticized actress Mercy Johnson in light of the recent arrest of TikTok content creator Eedie Bliss. Bliss faces allegations of spreading unverified claims about Johnson’s husband.
Background of the Controversy
The situation unfolded in December 2025, when rumors emerged suggesting that Mercy Johnson’s spouse, Prince Henry Okojie, had allegedly bought a mansion for another woman, with whom he was rumored to have conceived a child outside of his marriage.
Eedie Bliss, referencing information from social media influencer Cutie Juls, alleged that Mercy Johnson had purportedly conspired with the woman’s house help to induce a miscarriage.
Arrest Sparks Public Outcry
After the video went viral, Eedie Bliss found herself arrested and detained in Abuja, reportedly following a complaint filed by Prince Henry Okojie.
The arrest has sparked widespread debate online. Many critics are questioning why Mercy Johnson chose to take legal action against the content creator who repeated the information, rather than targeting the original source of the rumor.
Verydarkman Condemns Detention
Reacting to the incident, Verydarkman described Eedie Bliss’ detention as unfair and biased.
He highlighted the apparent double standard, recalling how Mercy Johnson previously called the detention of Regina Daniels’ brother, Sammy, unlawful when he faced arrest for defamation by Senator Ned Nwoko.
Call for Legal Action, Not Police Intervention
Verydarkman urged Mercy Johnson to treat the matter as a civil case, advising that suing in court would be more appropriate than using police force.
He emphasized that Eedie Bliss had cited her source in the video, and her arrest, especially with her wedding scheduled for the coming Saturday, was unnecessary and heavy-handed.
In his words: “Dear mercy Johnson, you can’t fight for the release of Sammy when Ned arrested him over defamation/ETC then later turn around to do the same thing with your husband all in the name of defamation. There was no name your camp didn’t call Ned NWOKO then
“If you and your husband feels defamed by that girl’s post, please sue her to court. And stop using the police to oppress people. To think of it, this girl’s case is different because she stated her source as cutiejuls blog. Release her and go to court. I heard her wedding is this Saturday.”
