Social media influencer VeryDarkMan has ignited a new wave of online debate after criticizing King Mitchy for her recent efforts in school renovation.
The controversy unfolded when Mitchy indirectly accused VDM of holding onto substantial donations—amounting to hundreds of millions of naira—from supporters for almost two years without any noticeable advancement on his own school renovation projects.
Mitchy proudly announced that she had successfully renovated several schools within just six days and extended her gratitude to Seyi Tinubu for financing the initiative.
While many applauded her swift and impactful work, VDM cast doubt on the timing and the underlying intentions of the project.
In a video posted on his Instagram account, VDM suggested that Mitchy’s efforts are politically motivated, hinting at potential aspirations tied to the 2027 elections.
According to him, Mitchy should not feel “special” for executing a project funded by someone with direct access to power.
“Seyi Tinubu that has the ears of his father gave you money to renovate a school and you think you are special? You are a political tool,” VDM said.
VDM stressed that if Mitchy truly has access to Seyi and knows about failing public schools, she could push for broader government intervention rather than isolated renovations.
He also raised concerns about insecurity and hardship in parts of the country, insisting that governance should not be reduced to influencer-backed projects.
“They didn’t give you this money in 2023 or 2024. They are giving you in 2026 when campaign for 2027 is close,” he added.
His comments have since divided social media. Some Nigerians agree that charity should not replace government responsibility, while others argue that renovated schools still benefit students regardless of political timing.
As conversations heat up online, one thing is clear — what started as a school renovation celebration has now turned into a political debate.
