In G20, Davis plays U.S. President Taylor Sutton, who must fight back when terrorists take over a global summit. With danger all around, she uses her skills to outsmart the attackers and protect her family, world leaders, and her country. The action-packed thriller, directed by Patricia Riggens, will stream on Prime Video starting April 10.

The official description teases an intense story: “When the G20 summit comes under siege, U.S. President Danielle Sutton becomes the No. 1 target. After evading capture by the attackers, she must outsmart the enemy to protect her family, defend her country and safeguard world leaders in this action-packed thrill ride.”

The movie features a strong cast, including Black-ish stars Anthony Anderson and Marsai Martin reuniting as a father-daughter duo. Other stars include Ramón Rodríguez (Will Trent), Antony Starr (The Boys), Douglas Hodge (The Great), Elizabeth Marvel (Love & Death), Sabrina Impacciatore (The White Lotus), and Clark Gregg (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D).

Davis shared that training for this role was different from her intense preparation for The Woman King. “This was more fisticuffs; this was more like street fighting, guns. This appealed to 6-year-old Viola — 6-year-old Viola would have been squealing with this one,” the  star explained. “But we choreographed a lot of these fight scenes on the set; you had to use your imagination with found objects, with what’s in the kitchen that you can fight with to take someone down. That was a different sort of fun.”

Her co-star Anthony Anderson, who plays her on-screen husband, praised her commitment. He said it was amazing “watching her train and training with her — jiujitsu and karate and boxing and all that so she can get out here and kick a@# the way that she did. Just the heart, determination and passion that she brought and led this cast with spilled over into everything that we did.”
