In 2015, Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert shocked and devastated fans with news of their divorce. The couple married in 2011 after years together and were considered the royal couple of country music. Both have remained tight-lipped on the reason for their separation, but rumors have still flown.

Lambert and Shelton began dating in 2006. At the time, both were in separate relationships; Shelton was married to his first wife, and Lambert was engaged. They believe they fell in love at first sight. After nearly a decade together, though, they called it quits.
“This is not the future we envisioned, and it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately,” they said in a joint statement. “We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter.”
Both have moved on with new spouses and generally avoid talking about their marriage.
Rumors flew about the reason for their split
Shelton and Lambert have both said that if fans want to know about their split, they should look to their music. One year later, Shelton, who filed for divorce, said he didn’t know why things didn’t work out. Multiple sources have presented theories, though.
“He is eager to have children, but she really enjoys not being tied down,” a source told Page Six. “I think they both were off on what the time frame would be.”
Her packed schedule also reportedly became a problem for him.
“They are never together, and he was wanting them to move close to being together,” the source said. “She really loves her career and touring. She has the ability to go and record albums when she wants and to tour.”
Other sources have claimed infidelity led to the split. TMZ claimed Lambert had an affair with country singer Chris Young. This prompted Young to make a statement denying he was romantically involved with Lambert. Suspicion of infidelity on her part grew when Shelton seemed to subtweet her in 2018. When an outlet reported that she was dating a married man, he posted about karma.
There have also been rumors of infidelity on Shelton’s part. Life & Style reported that he became involved with country singer Cady Groves, leading to jealousy in the relationship. Some sources reported that Lambert also had suspicions about Shelton’s relationship with Gwen Stefani, his current wife.
Shelton and Lambert have not confirmed any of these rumors. Until they do, we may never know what happened between them.

Since their divorce, Shelton and Lambert have reportedly been at odds. Sources say they don’t even want to see each other.
“Miranda doesn’t want to attend any event where Blake is the star attraction, and vice versa,” a source told Life & Style. “Their egos can’t handle it, and the brutal reality is that they can’t stand the sight of each other. They’re totally competitive, and there’s no love lost, and they don’t want any awkward confrontations. Some might say they don’t want the other to steal their spotlight.”
Both have moved on with new partners. Lambert married Brendan McLoughlin in 2019 and Shelton married Stefani in 2021.
