Billy Joel will spend the next 14 months relaxing at home and undergoing physical therapy. He has canceled his concert dates through July 2026 after being diangosed with NPH, a neurological disorder.

Billy Joel has made a sad announcement regarding his concerts. The famed musician has canceled his concerts through July 2026. The decision came after a medical diagnosis that will require the 76-year-old performer to undergo physical therapy and get his rest. The announcement comes months after he prompted fan concern after a fall at a Connecticut concert.

Billy Joel cancels all upcoming concerts

Concertgoers hoping to see Billy Joel in the next 14 months are disappointed today. The famed musician has canceled all upcoming shows through July 2026 after he was diagnosed with a brain disorder known as normal pressure hydrocephalus.

According to TMZ, all ticketholders will be refunded automatically. Joel will undergo physical therapy and rest during his year-long break, per his doctor’s orders. Joel said the condition makes it difficult to see, hear, and maintain his balance.

The announcement comes almost exactly three months after the famed musician suffered a fall during a concert. On February 22, 2025, during a performance at Mohegan Sun Arena, Billy Joel fell on stage after tossing his mic stand. According to people in the crowd, the 76-year-old “Piano Man” singer appeared to lose his balance after the toss. The incident didn’t seem to have a lasting impact, as Joel got up and continued the show. The fall may have hinted at the condition he just announced, as balance issues are a common symptom.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) is a neurological condition caused by a buildup of cerebrospinal fluid. Despite the accumulation of fluid, the pressure inside the brain remains within the normal range. The condition is generally treatable, and symptoms often improve with surgical intervention and follow-up treatment. Trouble with vision, hearing, bladder control, and balance are all common symptoms of the rare condition. Cognitive abilities may also be affected.
