They say “all things must come to an end,” and that now appears to be the case with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s Netflix deal, as it’s been reported that their contract won’t be renewed.
The deal was a head-scratcher from the start. Shortly after the duke and duchess left the royal family and moved stateside, the streaming giant threw $100 million at the couple to produce content, something they had no experience doing. It took the Sussexes years to put anything out on the platform, but when they finally did their first series Harry & Meghan was an instant hit and quickly became one of the most-watched documentaries on Netflix.
However, they were never able to replicate that success as Live to Lead, Heart of Invictus, and Polo were all flops. While Meghan’s lifestyle show fared a bit better, it placed all the way down at No.383 on Netflix’s semi-annual report.
Losing such a big source of income especially after reports that they’ve been having trouble funding their lavish lifestyle, is bad news for the former working royals. So what now? Well, some fans are offering ideas about what they would like to see the prince and former Suits star do next.
Fans want to see Meghan and Harry compete on a certain reality show
A new poll, courtesy of Genting Casino, surveyed what British citizens would like to see Prince Harry and Meghan do next. The results revealed that nearly a third of Gen Zers are hoping to see the Duke and Duchess of Sussex join the reality show called I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!
Over 22% of 16-24 year olds hope to see the royal pair on the series, making it the top choice for this demographic.
While the show is a hit in the U.K., it only lasted two seasons in the U.S. In the series, celebrities live in an Australian jungle with few comforts. Some of the American contestants who attempted to brave the jungle conditions included Caitlyn Jenner, Melissa Rivers, and Tyson Beckford.
If the Sussexes joined the I’m a Celeb camp, they wouldn’t be the first members of the royal family to do so as Princess Anne’s son-in-law, Mike Tindall, appeared on the show in 2022.
Others want the duke and duchess to return to the royal family
Another idea those surveyed had is for Meghan and Harry to rejoin the royal family.
“Over a third of 25-34 year olds (66.77%) and over half of 16-24 year olds (51.44%) would support Harry and Meghan returning to the Firm as working royals in the future. In stark contrast, just 17% of those aged 55 agreed with the move, and over 56% of this age group explicitly disagreed.”
No matter what folks would like to see them do, rejoining the royals doesn’t seem like it would ever be an option for the duke and duchess.
While there are rumblings that King Charles and Prince Harry could reconcile one day following reported “peace talks” between their aides. That idea doesn’t seem like anything the heir to the throne is open to as friends of Prince William have told the Daily Beast, “He feels utterly betrayed … He hates [Harry] for what he has done to the family in the books and interviews … It’s no secret William would prefer it if Harry never stepped foot in England again.”
