Whitney Cummings made her debut as a guest co-host on The View today, bringing her comedic flair to the Hot Topics Table and earning laughs from both her co-hosts and the studio audience. Her humor was on full display when she took a playful jab at FBI Director Kash Patel.

During Monday’s episode, Whoopi Goldberg initiated a discussion about a concerning incident involving the FBI director’s personal email, which was reportedly breached by a group with ties to Iran. Goldberg highlighted the Trump administration’s previous struggles with technology breaches and asked her co-hosts whether they were surprised by the ongoing security issues, especially in light of past incidents like “signal-gate.”

Cummings, known for her sharp wit, responded with a jest, “If Kash wanted his emails not to get released, he should have just CC’ed Jeffrey Epstein on them,” alluding to the heavily redacted nature of the Epstein files that have been made public.

The remark drew agreement from Sunny Hostin, who chimed in with, “Correct.” Meanwhile, the audience showed their appreciation for Cummings’ humor with a round of applause, prompting Goldberg to add, “Well said.”

As The View‘s studio audience gave Cummings a round of applause for her quip, Goldberg added, “Well said.”

Hostin chimed in with a more serious take, admitting that she thinks “it’s a little scary” that despite all of Patel’s responsibilities pertaining to counterterrorism and security, he “has a Gmail account that’s able to be hacked.”

“All people talked about [was] Hillary [Clinton] and them emails, Hillary’s emails. What about Kash’s emails?” she said. “I feel more unsafe now, in terms of the way we are handling our information, than ever before.”

While Hostin said “we don’t know which country actually hacked” Patel’s personal email, she explained that “Iranian hackers are taking responsibility” for it. Sara Haines added that “it was hosted on a Russian website.”

Hostin continued, “This is dangerous. Of course we know that he is unqualified, but now he’s making this country less safe.”

Ana Navarro said she “always assume[s] that anyone can get hacked,” though she noted that “you would think there’s a different standard for the director of the FBI.”

“And I think people are right to ask themselves if the director of the FBI can get hacked, what about the rest of us? But to tell you the truth, I’m a lot less concerned about his Gmail than I am about his incompetence and his corruption flying all over the country on FBI planes so he can go watch his girlfriend sing the Star Spangled Banner.”

Cummings teased of Patel, “It’s actually amazing that the most embarrassing things we’ve seen are interviews he scheduled and wanted to go out.”

Goldberg laughed, teasing that she “tr[ies] not to give him very much thought.”

“It’s too funny. Too sad, but incredibly funny,” she added. “You don’t know that there’s going to be a problem, you don’t know that people are trying to hack you. Just go back to bed!”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
