Speculation had been swirling for some time that Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell and R&B songbird Coco Jones are in a relationship.
The chatter began in 2024, when they were spotted holding hands at an Usher concert in Las Vegas. The two also attended Michael Rubin’s famous 4th of July White Party that year. As the rumor mill continued to spin, Jones finally let the world know what’s going on between her and the athlete.
When Jones confirmed the rumors that she’s dating Mitchell
During an appearance on Club Shay Shay in February 2025, the truth finally came out when NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe questioned Jones about Mitchell and the times they’ve been seen together.
“I love the internet because they definitely clocked my tea,” she admitted. “Little spies everywhere.”
Sharpe then explained that since he’s a public figure he enjoys being able to keep some aspects of his life private and asked Jones if she felt the same.
“Secrecy is not what I prefer,” she answered. “I don’t want to feel like I have to be somebody secret. I don’t want to make anybody feel like they’re mine. For me, I’m trying to protect myself, and I’m trying to protect my family and who I love, so I am more private.”
The “ICU” singer added, “I also feel like I give so much. I work so hard and I will always do my part on the business side, the ‘Coco’ side, the singing side, the acting side. So why do I have to also give y’all something that is sacred to me when I give so much on that side? I just feel like it has to be balanced, otherwise it’s not fair. What do I get for me?”

After Jones finally let the cat out of the bag, fans had questions about the couple including who’s older and who has the higher net worth.
Jones was born to parents Javonda Jones and former NFL player Mike Jones on Jan. 4, 1998, in Columbia, South Carolina, but was raised in Lebanon, Tennessee. Her mother was a session vocalist and Jones fell in love with music at an early age.
However, her career path began with acting and she made her small screen debut on the Disney Channel series So Random! Jones then played the role of Roxie in the television movie Let It Shine and was later featured on Good Luck Charlie. Her other acting credits over the years include The Exes, Flock of Four, Five Points, Vampires vs. the Bronx, White Elephant, and Bel-Air. In addition, Jones is widely known as an accomplished singer, having won a Grammy and recorded the tracks “Caliber,” “Miss Me When I’m Gone,” “Peppermint,” “Ghost,” and “Just My Luck,” to name a few. As for Mitchell, he’s just a bit older than Jones. The NBA shooting guard nicknamed “Spida” was born on Sept. 7, 1996, in Elmsford, New York, to parents Donovan Sr. and Nicole. His father is a former Minor League Baseball player and served as a director of player relations for the New York Mets. That had Mitchell playing baseball before he wanted to be in the NBA. But an injury in high school shifted his focus to basketball.
After playing his college ball at Louisville, Mitchell was selected in the first round by the Denver Nuggets in the 2017 NBA Draft and later acquired by the Utah Jazz. He played for the latter team from 2017 to 2022, earning over $9 million in salary. In November 2020, he signed a five-year $163 million contract extension with the Jazz. He was traded to Cleveland in 2023. Mitchell is a six-time All-Star and today has a net worth of $20 million per Celebrity Net Worth.
