Bachelor in Paradise is six episodes into Season 10, and after flying under the radar for the majority of his time on the beach, a preview suggests that Sean McLaughlin will finally step into the spotlight — for better or worse.

The Bachelorette alum, who Season 20 lead Charity Lawson set home during Week 5, appeared in Bachelor in Paradise Season 9 and Season 10. Since arriving on the beach this time around, he went on a date with Jill Chin, then later found a spark with Allyshia Gupta, who he was still dating ahead of Episode 8.

Aside from friend-zoning Jill and sharing a steamy age-gap make out session with Golden contestant April Kirkwood, however, Sean hasn’t caused too much drama in Paradise. But an Episode 8 preview shared to Bachelor in Paradise‘s official Instagram account suggests the 28-year-old could be about to shake things up with intense 3D chess-style strategizing.

Sean McLaughlin’s dad is Steven McLaughlin, a former Republican New York State Representative/Assemblyman (2011-2017) with several career controversies in his past, including once being disciplined for sexual harassment, per The New York Times.

The 61-year-old politician, born in Boston, Massachusetts, currently serves as County Executive of Rensselaer County, New York. Per his County Executive bio, before politics, Steven was a banker and a pilot for America West Airlines and U.S. Airways. He also “attended the Florida Institute of Technology and earned commercial and instrument aircraft ratings. He then studied finance at Arizona State University. He earned a B.A. degree from Empire State College (State University of New York) and an M.B.A. from the University of Phoenix.”
