Whoopi Goldberg has criticized Republicans who have not spoken out against former President Donald Trump’s inflammatory comments regarding Rob Reiner, who, along with his wife, was tragically killed in their Los Angeles home over the weekend.

In the aftermath of the heartbreaking incident—allegedly involving the couple’s son, Nick Reiner—Trump took to his platform, Truth Social, to falsely assert that the director died “due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME.” Trump later reiterated his stance during a press briefing, labeling Rob Reiner as “deranged” and “very bad for our country.”
“You know who’s bad for the country?” Goldberg questioned on The View this morning. “I don’t understand how you were raised, but this man’s family is experiencing profound grief. Your comments and doubling down on them make you bad for the country, very bad for the country.”
Goldberg also praised several prominent Republican lawmakers—including Louisiana Rep. John Kennedy, Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie, and New York Rep. Mike Lawler—who have criticized Trump for his insensitive statements.
“There’s something that we all know, is that when something horrific happens, we come together,” she said. “We don’t delineate because someone didn’t like you. That’s not what you do.”
The moderator also put the Republican politicians who haven’t come out against Trump’s remarks on blast, looking directly into the camera as she said, “There is no justification for him to have written what he wrote. There is no way to justify it. And all of those Republicans who are quiet, damn you all. Damn you all.”
Joy Behar, for her part, added Trump’s latest post to the long list of outbursts that will destroy his legacy.
“For years to come and the generations ahead of us, when we’re all dead, this stuff is gonna be in the Smithsonian for years. Everybody’s gonna know what he said,” she declared. “His legacy is in the dumpster. He doesn’t care though.”
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
