A lively online discussion has erupted after a man shared the story of how a disagreement over a dining bill led to the end of his relationship.
In a social media confession, the man detailed how his girlfriend ended their relationship when he refused to foot the bill for her friends during a group dinner.
Dispute Over Restaurant Bills
Initially, the man wasn’t included in the outing plans but later received an invitation to join his girlfriend and her friends at a restaurant. Throughout the evening, he noticed that the group indulged in high-priced dishes and beverages.
To prevent any misunderstandings, he discreetly asked the server to divide the bill. Upon receiving it, he settled the cost for himself and his girlfriend alone.
This decision reportedly shifted the mood among those at the table.
“The table went silent,” he wrote, adding that the group members eventually paid for their own orders after a moment of hesitation.
Fallout and Breakup
He further explained that the tension continued after the outing. During their journey home, he described the mood as unusually quiet.
Later, his girlfriend confronted him, accusing him of embarrassing her in front of her friends.
At home, the disagreement escalated into an argument. “She said I embarrassed her and that she was disappointed,” he stated.
According to him, she then issued an ultimatum. “I should transfer the money to her friends or this relationship is over,” she reportedly said.
The man said he refused the demand, after which the relationship ended.
Unexpected Apology
Weeks after the breakup, the man revealed that his former girlfriend reached out with an apology. However, he claimed that her message still included a request for him to refund her friends.
“This morning her apology came in, with the same request attached,” he wrote.
He added that he declined again and made it clear he was not interested in reconciling.
“I won’t and there’s no chance I’m taking you back,” he responded.
