At the Variety Creative Impact Awards, Entertainment Tonight had the chance to speak with Teyana Taylor, who shed light on how her children have become an integral part of her red carpet appearances. The actress and singer revealed that her daughters, Iman Tayla Shumpert Jr. and Rue Rose Shumpert, not only accompany her but also play a crucial role in her fashion decisions.
In a conversation with ET’s Denny Directo, Taylor expressed that her daughters are deeply involved in her style choices. “Thank you so much. They are my two biggest fashion critics and also my co-stylists,” she stated with a laugh. “I don’t leave the house without their approval. They have to give me the green light with a simple, ‘Okay, girl.’”
When the topic shifted to their striking poses on the red carpet, Taylor confessed that she often finds herself inspired by their confidence. “What’s crazy is when I’m on the carpet with them, I catch myself mimicking their moves,” she admitted. “It’s like, ‘Okay, yeah.’ They have this natural flair, and I think to myself, ‘The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.’”

When asked about their confident posing on the carpet, Taylor admitted she sometimes catches herself taking cues from them.
“You know what’s crazy? I think everybody always noticed when I’m on carpets with them, I be catching myself cuz I be like, uhhuh. Okay. Yeah. They just be like—I’m like, ‘All right, listen. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.’”

“Oh my god. I’m just like still taking it all in, you know? And as I always tell you, like just pacing myself, you know, and having fun with it. And I’m just I’m filled with so much gratitude and I feel so blessed. It’s everything I’ve ever dreamed of. You know what I’m saying? So I have no notes. I’m just really grateful, you know, very grateful.”

“No, it’s definitely a nice little break. I will admit that when I signed up for culinary school, I wasn’t this busy… This is a whole different level of busy.”
