**Spoiler alert: This article discusses the finale of Cross Season 2**

This season has been a tumultuous journey for Alex Cross, played by Aldis Hodge, as he grapples with personal struggles alongside external threats. The twist this time is that the individual he’s meant to protect, portrayed by Matthew Lillard, turns out to be the true villain of the story. In a dramatic conclusion, Alex decides to resign from the force, leaving behind his badge and gun.

So, what’s next for our intrepid hero? Could a family getaway or some soul-searching be on the horizon? Unlikely. It’s more probable that he’ll dive back into the world of solving crimes, possibly as early as the opening episodes of Season 3. But when can fans expect the new season to premiere?

Is Cross Season 3 Happening at Prime Video?

Good news, Cross fans! On Wednesday, Prime Video announced that a third season of the show is in the works, thankfully. In a statement released by Prime Video, execs said they are “thrilled to continue this journey” and give the people more of Alex Cross.

“From the beginning, Cross has captivated audiences with its layered characters, pulse-pounding suspense, and emotionally grounded storytelling,” said Peter Friedlander, Amazon MGM Studios’ TV boss. “Aldis has delivered a definitive portrayal of Alex Cross, anchoring the series with depth, intelligence, and heart. We’re thrilled to continue this journey with Ben, our collaborators at Paramount Television Studios, and the rest of the incredible cast to bring even more of James Patterson’s iconic world to our global Prime Video audience.”

When Could Cross Season 3 Premiere on Prime Video?

Since Cross Season 2 managed to release roughly one year after Season 1 dropped, we have to hope that Season 3 will arrive in around the same timeframe. It sounds like creator Ben Watkins has been planning a major arc for the show since the beginning so it’s possible some scripts are already written. Here’s hoping that speeds the process up!

Who Stars In Cross?

Aside from Hodge and Lillard, the adaptation of James Patterson’s bestselling book series has an ensemble cast that fills out the FBI agents, friends, and family of Alex Cross.

  • Isaiah Mustafa as Detective John Sampson
  • Juanita Jennings as Regina “Nana Mama” Cross
  • Alona Tal as Kayla Craig
  • Samantha Walkes as Elle
  • Caleb Elijah as Damon Cross
  • Melody Hurd as Janelle “Jannie” Cross
  • Jennifer Wigmore as Chief April Anderson
  • Jeanine Mason as Rebecca
  • Wes Chatham as Donnie
  • Johnny Ray Gill as Bobby Trey

What Has The Cast Said About the Future of Cross?

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Watkins said he has at least a four-season plan in place for the show, although he hopes for much more Cross.

“We want this thing to go for 10 seasons, but in my head, I had already made a four-year plan, and it’s based on some things that I want to do to mine and pay homage to the characters that are in the Alex Cross book series. Even though I’m doing new stories, I want at some point for there to be a dovetail between these characters, so I’ve been planting these seeds,” he said.
