Tom Brady quickly regretted doing his Netflix roast. Now, it looks like Will Smith could be next.

Puck News reports Netflix is considering the King Richard star, amongst “a few” celebrities, to participate in the streamer’s next roast. And, surprisingly enough, the outlet mentions two sources confirmed the actor has not turned down the opportunity just yet.

The news comes as a surprise as many may remember what happened the last time Smith was publicly roasted. He infamously slapped Chris Rock on stage at the 2022 Oscar Awards after Rock cracked a joke about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, while presenting during the live awards ceremony.

The shocking moment led to Smith being banned from the Academy Awards for 10 years, however he is still qualified to be nominated and receive awards.

Smith, who later took the stage that evening to accept his first Academy Award for King Richard, has since largely stayed out of the spotlight. But he seems to be launching a bit of a comeback as he recently announced he’s returning to music for the first time in 20 years with a new album, “Based on a True Story,” releasing March 28, and going on a world tour.

A Netflix roast would not be a bad thing to add to that comeback tour.

Smith will be following in Brady’s footsteps. The NFL Hall of Famer was ruthlessly roasted by the likes of Nikki Glaser, Kim Kardashian and more in the comedy special which drew 2 million viewers when it aired in May 2024.

Roasting a celebrity like Smith, who is both beloved and controversial in Hollywood thanks to his storied career, could bring even bigger numbers to the streamer. It’s no surprise Smith is one of the select few Netflix is considering. Though, Puck News notes the offer Netflix allegedly made is “very informal.”

But Smith runs the risk of subjecting his whole family and personal life to getting roasted, as well. Just days after the live roast aired on Netflix, Brady expressed that he wouldn’t participate in a roast again because of the jokes made about his ex-wife, supermodel Gisele Bündchen, and their kids.

“I liked when the jokes were about me. I thought they were so fun,” he said, before adding, “I didn’t like the way they affected my kids.”

“I wouldn’t do that again because of the way that it affected actually the people that I care about the most in the world,” he continued.

Comedians would almost surely take aim at Smith’s public – and controversial – marriage to his wife, especially after she revealed during her publicity tour for her memoir, Worthy, that they were secretly separated and had been living apart for years.

Now that we know Smith is at least considering Netflix’s offer, the question remains: Will he be able to take the heat? Or will this be an Oscars 2.0?
