It looks like Kevin Bacon may be returning to Perfection.

Stampede Entertainment, the production company behind the 1990 cult classic Tremors, announced they are developing another sequel after regaining the rights to the original script for Tremors.

“We are discussing a return-to-Perfection sequel,” the company announced in a statement, referring to the small Nevada town Valentine McKee (Bacon) and his friends defended in the 1990 monster horror. “And one or two more outlandish ideas featuring graboids in new settings.”

Stampede’s statement continues, “Whatever we decide to pitch to Hollywood, it will not be a remake the first movie with a new cast.  Nor will it be a version of our original script for Tremors 5… We are considering ideas that feature the return of Kevin Bacon as Val, but no promises!”

The movie follows the residents of a small town in Arizona who must defend themselves against strange underground creatures that are hunting them one by one. Fred Ward, Finn Carter, and Reba McEntire also starred in the film, which went on to become a cult classic.

Will there be a Tremors series on Netflix?

No, it does not look like a Tremors sequel will be coming to Netflix. The exciting news has already sparked rumors of what the new installment will look like: A viral Facebook post wrongfully claims Netflix is releasing an eight-episode series with Bacon reprising his role as Val.

Per Newsweek, the account that shared the post is known for sharing inaccurate information relating to fictional movies and series. There is currently no sign that the streamer is involved in a Tremor series or any future installments in the franchise.

However, in addition to several sequel films, the film already has a short-lived spinoff series that aired on the Sci-Fi Network in 2003. The series, also called Tremors, focused on the sleepy desert town of Perfection, Nevada, where a giant prehistoric worm is terrorizing the residents as a no-nonsense survivalist struggles to maintain peace.

Starring Michael Gross and Victor Brown, the Tremors series was canceled due to poor ratings while filming on Season 1 was still underway, according to the Stampede Entertainment FAQ. But all 13 episodes of Season 1 are streaming now on Tubi.

Fans looking to tune into one of the earliest roles of Bacon’s career can stream the original Tremors on AMC+. The movie is also available on digital for rental or purchase from Prime Video.
